Here’s our first look at 2014 Lucas Oil TQ Can-Am Midget champion Mack Deman’s ride for the 2015 Ohsweken Speedway season. The second-generation star will pilot a Crate Sprint Car for Barr Motorsports in his first foray into dirt competition. The Mississauga, ON native joins fellow asphalt converts Josh Shantz and Steve Lyons on the talent-packed roster. Deman’s fulltime effort will be made possible thanks to Lucas Oil, Fast Track Performance, Centre Line Elevator, Paragon Collision, Velocity Signs, Stricklands GM, Campbell Specialty Metals and Barr Motorsports. Ohsweken’s 2015 season will kick off on May 15th. Details, including gate times and ticket prices, can be found at www.OhswekenSpeedway.com. Deman will have his brand new ride on display at the Speed & Custom Car Show in London this weekend.
We recently had the chance to chat with 2014 OSCAAR Super Late Model champion Andrew Gresel (above, by Dan Little). The second-generation star will focus on the upstart APC United Late Model Series in 2015. We asked Gresel about his newly reinvigorated Pro Late Model program, why he chose to follow the APC series, what level of competition he expects to be matched against on the tour and how many Super Late Model events he hopes to attend this season. Former Flamboro Speedway Thunder Car champion Kevin Gallant has sent along these ‘in progress’ photos of his ride for the 2015 season. “The Flying Farmer” will be back fulltime at Flamboro, alongside fellow veterans Brad Collison and Shawn Arnott in search of another division championship. Marketing support for Gallant’s Flamboro campaign will be provided by Wilkenson Precast, Arnott Automotive, Bill’s Auto Service, Bernie’s Auto Body of Burlington, Andy & Ann Gallant Greenhouse and B&B Decals.
Here’s our first look at 2012 Hurricane Midget champion Ryan Fraser’s brand new build for the 2015 TQ Can-Am Midget season. The Guelph, ON driver will pilot a car built by Justin Fraser and Super Late Model standout Jeff Hanley. Ryan plans for a fulltime campaign with the Can-Am Midget club to join them in celebrating their 50th anniversary. Fans can follow the team on Twitter @RFRacing1494.
OSCAAR Modified Tour Rookie of the Year candidate John Baker Jr. debuted his new ride at the 2015 Motorama Custom Car & Motorsports Expo. Baker’s ride was formerly piloted by OSCAAR veteran Rudy Oppersma as a Super Late Model and has been retrofitted to confine to Modified regulations. The Marksmen Club, Mills Pontiac Buick GMC, Ajax Muffler & Automotive, Oshawa Hearing Aid Clinic, Fotheringam Bookkeeping, Ray’s World of Vending, Praxair of Oshawa, Carstar of Cobourg and John Baker’s Auto will provide primary support for Baker’s inaugural touring campaign.
