In the August 1st edition of Spencer Lewis’ Short Track Notebook, we talk with rising Mini Stock star Hudson Nagy, Sauble Speedway Ltd. Late Model contender Josh Stade, Delaware Speedway Super Stock winner Darrell Lake and Barrie Speedway’s Ryan Semple.
We recently caught up with third-generation racer Hudson Nagy and asked about his migration from Karting to the Mini Stock division. The 14-year old currently sits 3rd in Flamboro Speedway’s Mini Stock standings, and is the top ranked rookie in the veteran-heavy class. Nagy chats about the difficulties faced in his first season of stock car racing, his touring program that is taking him to speedways across Ontario and what he hopes to accomplish through the back-half of 2014. Ltd. Late Model up-and-comer ‘Prime Time’ Josh Stade (above, by Ashley McCubbin) took the time last weekend to speak with us about his hectic two days of competition at Sunset Speedway. Stade impressed in Saturday night’s event, winning his qualifying heat race before sustaining damage in the opening lap of the feature. Sunday, the second-generation driver stormed from deep in the field to a 7th place finish. Click here to hear what Josh had to say and follow him on Twitter @PrimeTimeStade.
The APC Challenge Series returned to action at Delaware Speedway on July 25th for Round 4 of the acclaimed Thunder Car/Super Stock series. Delaware veteran Darrell Lake (above, by Debbie-Jo Zardo) struggled in the opening segment of the twin-25 features, but powered to victory in the second, ending a season-long winless streak. Our cameras were there to catch Lake’s reaction post-race, as he offered his thoughts on the Delaware vs. Flamboro series, his 2014 season thus far and the elation of finally getting back to Delaware victory lane.
