@HondaIndy • @ProstateCancerC •TORONTO (January 24, 2017) – Cycling enthusiasts have the opportunity to band together for a great cause while experiencing the Honda Indy Toronto like never before. Teams composed of four riders each can register now to compete in the Indy Cycling Challenge held on July 13, 2017, on the 2.89km temporary race circuit at Exhibition Place.

The Indy Cycling Challenge is organized to broaden awareness and raise funds for the mission of Prostate Cancer Canada (PCC). Special guests supporting this inaugural event include official ambassador, Curt Hartnett, a four-time Canadian Olympian winning three Olympic medals and many additional international competitions, and Steve Fleck, an avid cyclist, runner and triathlete plus leading endurance sports race and event announcer, as the emcee of the cycling festivities.

“The Honda Indy Toronto is an iconic global motorsports event, and this year it takes on an even greater significance. We’re joining with Prostate Cancer Canada in the fight against this disease,” said Jeff Atkinson, president of the Honda Indy Toronto. “Men and women participating in the Indy Cycling Challenge will fiercely compete on the same track before the INDYCAR and NASCAR drivers do.”

“Prostate cancer is the most common cancer in men,” explained PCC President & CEO, Rocco Rossi. “By participating in this unique event, cyclists will not only have an incredible life experience, but will also help improve the lives of one in eight Canadian men and their families.”

The competition will be organized into three separate divisions: Men’s, Women’s and Corporate Challenges. Teams will complete 12 laps totaling 34.68km with each cyclist doing three laps. The racing route features exceptional views of Princes’ Gates, BMO Field and the Lakeshore.

Cyclists must be at least 19 years of age to register. Entry fee is $250 per cyclist and each team is required to raise a minimum of $5,000 in donations. Participants will receive a race jersey, gift bag, access to weekly fundraising prizes, tickets to the Honda Indy Toronto, valet parking and other benefits plus enjoy great food and music. Corporate partnerships are also available for the Indy Cycling Challenge.
