@NewHumberstone • PORT COLBORNE, ONTARIO (September 25, 2016) Multi-time speedway winner Ken Sargent was the winner of the 75 lap Enduro as part of the annual Eve of Destruction at the Humberstone Speedway presented by Tidyman Maintenance and Port Colborne Laundry on a picturesque early Fall Sunday afternoon, where a standing room only crowd saw a great show from beginning to end. Norm Mark won the Flag Pole Race. Rob Goulding won the backwards race and his team with Leroy Buscumb also won the Side By Side Race. Todd Gordon won the Enduro Cross event. Jason Vincelette won the Boat-Trailer Race. The afternoon came to a close with a pair of demolition derbies.
The fans were entertained by an Airbag Car Explosion and a stunt that landed a car in an hot tub!
Rob Goulding led the 175 plus car Enduro to the green flag for their 75 lap event. Todd Gordon led the way on lap 40. Gordon led for a while as also did Darren West. Ken Sargent would take the lead unofficially on lap 71 after Gordon spun in turn one on lap 70. Sargent would go on to be scored the winner after leading the final four circuits
16 young race fans participated in the first ever Powerwheels Demolition Derby. All the kids had a great time and put on an excellent show for the fans.
Over 50 participants ran the popular Flag Pole Race with Dylan Dare being scored as the early leader. Jeff Mark would take the lead on lap three and started to pull away from the field. Norm Mark would catch Jeff and take the lead away on lap eight and lead the final two circuits to get the win.
44 ladies ran in the 10 lap Ladies Race with Cherry Halls in the lead early. Emily Puchalski would take the lead on lap three. Puchalski would hold on to the lead until the 16 car would take the lead on the last lap coming off turn two and would hold off Puchalski to grab the win.
38 racers took part in the Backwards Race with Cole Hardy showing the way early on. Rob Goulding would take the lead on lap two and wouldn’t look back as he went on to pick up the win. Goulding and teammate Leroy Buscumb would win the Side By Side Race for their second win of the afternoon.
Ontario Modified driver Todd Gordon took the lead after a lap four red flag and led the remaining distance to win the Enduro Cross event. Jason Vincelette won the Boat Trailer Race
Speedway management would like to congratulate the 2016 Track Champions. Brad Rouse from St. Catharines, Ontario won the 2016 title for the PC Works DIRTcar Sportsman. “The Keystone State Warrior” Dennis Lunger Jr from Albion, Pennsylvania won his second straight Pinty’s RUSH Late Model title behind eight victories in 2016. Dave Bailey from Hagersville, Ontario completed the Niagara Region Trifecta by winning the track title not only at Humberstone, but at Ohsweken and Merrittville as well in 2016. Kyle Haynes from Caledon, Ontario won the Cosco Haulage Mini Stocks championship while Dylan Llord from St. Catharines, Ontario was the divisional champion in the Mike Knapp Ford Pro 4 Trucks.
