@NewHumberstone • @SOSSprints • PORT COLBORNE, ONTARIO- Kocomo, Indiana driver Parker Price-Miller brought home the victory for the Southern Ontario Sprints on John Puhl Memorial Night presented by Zanchin Truck and Trailer at the Humberstone Speedway on Victoria Day Weekend.
Brad Rouse from St. Catharines, Ontario picked up the victory for the PC Works DIRTcar Sportsman. Dennis Lunger Jr from New Albion, Pennsylvania won his third RUSH Late Models feature of 2015. Chris Crawford from Welland, Ontario won his first JC Auto Street Stock feature of 2015. Brandon Iudiciani from Welland, Ontario won his first Cosco Haulage Mini Stock feature of the season while St. Catharines, Ontario native Mike Toovey scored his second Mike Knapp Ford Pro 4 Truck feature of the young campaign.
Jim Huppunen and Dain Naida brought the stout field of Southern Ontario Sprints (SOS) to the green flag for their A-Main with Scott Sherk looping in turn one and flipped on his side to bring out the red flag. Darren Zumpe spun in turn two to bring out the caution on lap two with Jamie Turner also getting involved in the contact. The restart saw Naida and Parker Price-Miller on the front row with Naida pulling away. Price-Miller would pass Naida to take over the race lead on lap five.
Tyler Hendricks would bring out the caution on lap eight to bunch the field up once again. The battle was on for second between Naida and Huppunen as the two would battle and take turns taking over the runner up spot. The caution would come out on lap 14 as Dane Lorenc would loop his racer in turn four. Shawn Sliter would immediately bring out the caution on the restart as he spun in turn one. The restart would see Price-Miller up front and starting to pull away from his teammate Naida with Huppunen, Mitch Brown and Glenn Styres battled for the third spot. Price-Miller would hold off Naida to pick up his first Southern Ontario Sprints A-Main at Humberstone. Dain Naida would finish in second and was followed by Mitch Brown in third.
Brad Rouse and Cody McPherson led the field of PC Works DIRTcar Sportsman to the green flag for their main event with Rouse showing the early advantage. McPherson and Gary Lindberg would battle for second early on with Lindberg passing McPherson on lap five. Rouse would hit heavy lap traffic by lap ten. With Rouse pulling away and going through lap traffic, Lindberg started to reel in the former Mr. DIRTcar Sportsman titlist. With every lap passing by, Rouse would start to pull away from Lindberg but Lindberg, the two time defending divisional champion started to reel in Rouse. Lindberg would catch Rouse late in the event as lapped traffic slowed the leader’s momentum.
Lindberg would get close to go side by side with Rouse but Rouse was able to hold off Lindberg to score the win. It marked the third different winner in three weeks so far this season.
Jeff Dayman and Tim Gillespie brought the field of Pinty’s RUSH Late Models to the green flag for their feature event with Dayman having the early advantage. Adam Sixt moved up into second and Dennis Lunger Jr quickly passed both to gain the race lead on lap number three. Lunger would pull away from the field off an early race restart. Lunger would continue to lead Sixt, Jorden Peters, Rob Pietz and Jeff Dayman at the halfway mark.
No challenger could come close to Lunger as the veteran racer from Central Pennsylvania would go on to score his third straight win of the season.
Chris Crawford and Rob Murray were on the front row for the JC Auto Street Stock feature with Crawford showing the way early on. The caution would come out on lap nine. Jim Lampman moved up through the field and took over third before the races halfway mark. Lampman and Dave Bailey would battle for second and Lampman would clear Bailey and began to go after the race leader Crawford. Lampman would come close in the late stages but Crawford would hold him off to score his first win of the season.
The four cylinder divisions started off with the Cosco Haulage Mini Stocks as Sam Iftody and Rob Goulding shared the front row for their 15 lap feature event. Goulding would take taking the lead away from pole sitter Iftody off the green flag. Goulding would pull away from the field as Brandon Iudiciani would take over the lead on lap 11 and would hold off Goulding to get the win.
Terry Ronning and Craig Vlasic led the field of Mike Knapp Ford Pro 4 Trucks to the green flag with Toovey getting the advantage on lap two. Toovey, Vlasic, Danny Wurster and Dillon Llord would pull away from the rest of the field. Wurster would come close to Toovey a couple times to try to take over the race lead but it was Toovey scoring the victory, his second straight win.
