@NewHumberstone •PORT COLBORNE, ONTARIO… (April 15, 2016) The practice session that was scheduled for Sunday April 17 at the New Humberstone Speedway has been cancelled due to wet grounds at the speedway and surrounding property.

“We have not had enough dry weather to allow the crew to get up on the track surface” noted Humberstone General Manager Bobby Davidson. “We needed this warm weather a few days earlier” Davidson continued. We will be hosting a practice session on Wednesday April 20th with gates opening at 5:00pm and cars being on the track at 6:00pm.

The first on track action of the 2016 season will be the inaugural Dawn of Destruction presented by Tidyman Maintenance on Sunday April 24th. Pit gates will swing open at 9:00AM with the Spectator Grandstand gates opening at 11:00AM and the thrilling action will get underway at 1:00pm. Grandstand prices will be $10 for adults and seniors, $5 for kids 8 to12 years old, kids seven and under are free. The pit gate price is $50 and that includes car, driver and scorer for the Enduro. Events for the Dawn of Destruction includes the Enduro, Ladies Race, Backwards Race, Figure 8, Enduro-Cross, Side-By-Side Race, a Roll-Over Contest and the first Dawn of Destruction Construction Crush-Off Championship. As part of the on track activities, drivers from two of Humberstone’s weekly classes, the DIRTcar Sportsman and the Street Stocks will be racing in an Invitational Demonstration. “This is a great way to show our new fans the great action we have going on here every Sunday Night in the summer” says Humberstone Speedway General Manager Bob Davidson. In addition, any of Humberstone’s race teams whose cars are ready to go for the season is encouraged to show off their racing machines and sign autographs prior to the Dawn of Destruction.

After the Dawn of Destruction, stock car racing returns to the historic Port Colborne speedplant on Sunday May 1st for the 57th season opener. The DIRTcar Sportsman will be joined by the RUSH Late Models, Street Stocks, Mini Stocks and the Pro 4 Trucks. Race time on May 1st is at 6:30pm.

The New Humberstone Speedway would like to thank all the new and returning Weekly Series Sponsors: PC Works (DIRTcar Sportsman), Pinty’s Delicious Foods (RUSH Late Models), J.C. Auto (Street Stocks), Mike Knapp Ford (Pro 4 Trucks), and the Cosco Haulage (Mini Stocks).

The New Humberstone Speedway is located just two miles East of Port Colborne on Highway 3, just 17 miles west of the US/Canadian Border at the Peace Bridge (Buffalo/Fort Erie).
