Grand Bend, Ontario (May 29, 2017)- The Tommy’s Motors Mini Trucks opened up their 2017 season at Grand Bend Speedway this past Saturday night. The brothers Cole Pirie (10) and Tanner Pirie (12) both scored feature wins in their separate main event races. The brothers finished one-two in both events. The Twin 25 format had their ups and downs for most of the competitors, with standout performance by rookies Austin Arnel (29) picking up his first podium finish in the first leg, and Chris Pallister (55) who picked up a 3rd place in the second feature.
The Broadway Services Junior Late Models also opened up their season this past weekend with twin 25’s as well. Logan White (21) had been running a part time schedule with Grand Bend Speedway for the past couple seasons and in 2017 have upped their game and it paid off with his first win at Grand Bend Speedway. White had used a power move on the outside groove on a restart to wrestle the lead from Brent Small (23) to take the win. The second feature was lead early by Cody Wilds (14) who snagged the lead from Logan White. Wilds lost control in turn four and looped his car and was nearly collected by veteran Jacob Campbell (44). Campbell had to take evasive action and went through the grass but maintained top spot and the eventual win.
In the Woodstock OK Tire Jr. A Sprints, drivers Chase Pinsonneault (3) and Chase Cameron (4) took the checkers in their twin 25’s
Brooke Pinsonneault (8) took both feature wins in the McNichol Welding & Fabrication Jr. B Sprints. Carter Nichol (6) and Pinsonneault flip flopped the lead a handful of times while negotiating traffic.
