BOWMANVILLE, ON- Part-time NASCAR Canadian Tire Series presented by Mobil 1 competitor Gary Klutt made the most of his third appearance of the 2014 season on August 31st. The second-generation star earned his best career NCATS finish, battling to 6th place in Pinty’s presents The Clarington 200 at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park.
“We’re just getting better and better in this car”, smiled Klutt post-race. “Every time we race it, we’re a little more comfortable. We’re definitely learning every step of the way, but the results have been solid and that alone is a huge boost of confidence”
The No. 59 Canadian Title Loans/Legendary Motorcar Chevrolet was 12th fastest in qualifying, and the Halton Hills, ON youngster worked quickly to improve on his starting position from the drop of the green flag.
Klutt ran within the top-10 for nearly the entirety of the race, working his way as high as 2nd around the halfway point.
“We decided not to take a stop for tires, today”, explained Klutt. “It worked well for us in terms of track position, though we were doing our very best to hang on at the end”
“We were the only car at the front of the field without fresh tires”, continued Klutt. “The late-race yellow didn’t work towards our strategy, but I’m still incredibly proud of what our team was able to accomplish this afternoon”
Gary Klutt’s 2014 campaign has seen the Legendary Motorcar-representative tally a pair of top-10 finishes at Circuit ICAR and Canadian Tire Motorsport Park, while a 6th place run at Circuit de Trois-Rivieres was ended prematurely when a rear-end failure removed the team from competition just 11-laps from the checkered flag.
With a season full of impress performances in his back pocket, it’s clear Klutt is counting the days before he returns to the NASCAR Canadian Tire Series.
“We’re going to sit down as a team and look at our options for 2015”, said the personable 22-year old. “Canadian Title Loans has been great. They love being a part of our program and we love having them. They want to do more next year, so I’m excited to see what we can accomplish together in 2015”
