@mattgarwood31 • BOWMANVILLE, ON – (May 21, 2015) – As announced last weekend at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park, Millers Oils Formula 1200 driver Matt Garwood will be adding to his racing résumé as Crew Chief and official test driver for Canadian Touring Car Championship (CTCC) driver Martin Crisp.

The 19 year old from Elmvale, Ontario is currently leading the U.S.– Canadian 2015 Challenge Cup Series Championship after earning a two third place finishes and a fifth at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park at the beginning of May.

Garwood stepped in as Crew Chief for Crisp’s #10 PowerStory.ca  Mazda Miata this past weekend competing in the Canadian Touring Car Championship  (CTCC)Touring Class at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park.  Crisp took top spot on the podium in both races from pole position with the support of Garwood.

Martin Crisp: “It’s a big help having Matt as my Crew Chief.  His support allows me to focus on driving. Not only is Matt a skilled driver, he’s very business savvy and is a very welcome addition to the PowerStory.ca  team.”

Garwood will get his first taste of being Crisp’s official test driver on May 29 at Shannonville Motorsport Park.  Additional test dates will be determined as the season progresses with a potential opportunity to race the #10 PowerStory.ca Mazda Miata at some point during the 2015 CTCC season.

“Getting the opportunity to be part of a race winning Canadian Touring Car Championship team for the 2015 season as a test driver is an accomplishment I am very proud of. I look forward to the future as I continue my bid for the Formula 1200 championship and continue to grow as a driver on and off the race track,” said Garwood

In addition to his new roles with Crisp’s team and being a Formula 1200 driver, Garwood is a full-time student at the Automotive Business School of Canada and a director for the Georgian College Auto Show.

Garwood recently shot a segment with Rogers TV Barrie’s Simcoe County Sports’ Craig Ripley which will air May 26 at 6pm. Repeats will air over the following week.

Garwood is proud to represent; FEL (Franczak Enterprises Ltd.) Vallis Motor Sport, Core Evolution Fitness, Athletes Brand, Autoglym Canada and PowerStory.ca  and is also proud to be a “Laps for Muscular Dystrophy” (Laps4MD) driver where he has pledged to donate $1 for every lap he leads to Muscular Dystrophy Canada.
