DURHAM, ON – For fans attending the BraveHeart 100 Lucas Oil Sportsman Cup event at Full Throttle Motor Speedway on June 8, they will be in for a special triple-treat. The day-long spectacle will feature a full slate of short track racing, headlined by the second round on the touring Sportsman Cup calendar.

Completing the race card will be contests for Late Models, Sportsmen and Thunder Trucks as well as races for the Fun and Kid Stocks, Mini Trucks and Junior Cup classes. Undoubtedly, the biggest treat for the race fans will come courtesy of appearances of two of NASCAR’s most endearing celebrities, Kenny ‘the Herman-ator’ Wallace and his ‘brother from another mother’ Ken Schrader.

“Wallace and Schrader are drivers the fans love to meet. Both drivers love the fans, love connecting and spending time with them, and they also love to race wherever they go,” said Full Throttle Motor Speedway owner Gord Bennett. “Those guys are going to have a lot of fun racing here at Full Throttle and with their talent and experience, they should be able to put on a great show.”

Bennett then stated that he has seen an appreciable rise in interest for the June 8 date and expects to see upwards of 24 Sportsman cars battling for position on the multi-lane, high-banked bullring.

“We always draw a pretty stout field for the Sportsman Cup races, but I think a lot of guys want to come out and test themselves against the NASCAR drivers, just to see how they rate among the best,” said Bennett.

Kenny Wallace, who will be behind the wheel of the No. 5 Brandon Huras Racing-prepared car, is excited about his debut appearance on the Full Throttle short track.

“I raced at Cayuga, Flamboro, Sauble, in Montreal and last year in Nova Scotia. I’ve been racing mainly on dirt tracks lately, but it’s fun to come back to the asphalt every now and then.”

Wallace also admitted that there was another factor contributing to his decision to be a part of the BraveHeart 100 event.

“I call Ken (Schrader) my other brother. I’ve known him all my life. Ken is the ultimate racing warrior. He’ll run wherever he can. He’s a great guy off the track, but don’t expect an extra inch when you’re diving into a corner alongside him.”

The Missouri-based driver then remarked on the passion of the Canadian race fans.

“No lie, Canadian race fans are just about the best in the world. They really love their racing and they love to have fun. When I come to Canada, it’s like going to a wonderland. It’s a party and there always seems to be beer, a lot of beer, involved after a race.”

“The fans are so energetic, and are incredibly knowledgeable, whether they’re watching us race on dirt or asphalt, they know what’s going on,” added Schrader.

In 2019, Schrader will be racing multiple times on Canadian soil, although the Full Throttle appearance will be his only race on asphalt.

“Running on clay, I get to bring my own car. With this race I’ll be in someone else’s ride. Hopefully, I can get some extra track time to get used to the feel of this car. I’m running about 100 races this year, so adapting to a new car shouldn’t be much of a problem.”

Although Wallace and Schrader will be concentrating on their on-track performance, BraveHeart 100 fans will enjoy several opportunities to speak with the NASCAR personalities.

“We’ve arranged a meet and greet barbecue in the afternoon, with tickets available through our website,” said Bennett. “I fully expect to see our guests wandering through the crowd when they’re not busy with their cars. We’re planning for a full-day, non-stop event with them. Inviting such high-profile drivers like Wallace and Schrader is a marketing investment in the track, one designed to raise awareness of our facility. We want people to come out to get an indication of what changes and developments are going on now and what we plan for the future. This BraveHeart date is just the first of what we want to become an annual event. People will be blown away when they see what we’re doing in 2020.”

Subsequently, it was announced that NASCAR/ARCA veteran Norm Benning will also be taking part in the LOSC 100 race June 8. Benning will be driving a Kevin Gallant-prepared Ford in the race.
