@FTMSpeedway • VARNEY, ON – On April 16th Full Throttle Motor Speedway came alive again with the second annual Sprint Into Spring. The Fun Stocks and the Mini Stocks were on the schedule to battle it out for three 20 lap features each. Two exhibition races were also held at Sprint Into Spring as well for the Figure 8’s and the Demo Derby.

The Fun Stocks kicked off the day with 13 cars taking the green flag in feature one. This race was dominated by the #82 of Kyle Neumeiste from Stratford with him leading 16 out of 20 laps. However it was on lap 19 the # 85 car driven by Matt Clarke from Mount Forest would charge up and pass the #82. In the end it was the #85 of Clarke finishing first, #34 of Alex Hastie came second, third belonged to Kyle Neumeiste in the #82, fourth was John Green in his #48, and rounding out the top 5 was the #14 of Luke Bos.

In the second feature the Fun Stocks Matt Clarke was the car to beat and ended up leading from green to checkered. Second would belong to Alex Hastie, third goes to John Green fourth was Luke Bos, and rounding out the top 5 would be the #82 of Neumeiste.

Feature three the cars were lined up in order of the lowest combined finish going to the front of the field and the highest combined finishing total going to the rear. This left Matt Clarke trying to complete the first ever Sprint Into Spring three feature sweep from the back of the field. As soon as the green flag dropped it was obvious that Matt Clarke was a man on a mission as he was up to fourth place at the halfway point. The caution flew on lap ten due to the second place of the #48 John Green and third place #82 Neumeiste coming together and causing Green to spin on the back stretch. Matt Clarke moved up to the 2nd position on this caution due to both the involved cars being sent to the tail of the field. This left the leader Alex Hastie and Matt Clarke to battle it out on the front row. Matt Clarke was able to battle his way past the #34 and ended up taking feature three to complete the sweep. Second would go to Hastie, third to Jeremie Duguay, fourth belonged to John Green and Kyle Neumeiste would round out the top five.

The Mini Stock started with eight car to take green at Sprint Into Spring. The first feature belonged to the #36 of Cory Young from Owen Sound as he would lead all 20 laps of the first feature. Second would go to the #35 of Tim Tolton, Nick Clarke would pick up third in the # 86, Fourth went to the #13 of Bobby Tolton, and the #2 of Brian Wilson rounded out the top 5.

Feature two saw the return of close side by side racing in the Mini Stocks. As both the #13 of Bobby Tolton and Cory Young in the #36 battled through the pack to race for the top position. In the end Cory Young would bring his car over the line in first place while Bobby Tolton would settle for second. Third would go to the #86 of Nick Clarke fourth was the #14 of Jason Tolton and rounding out the top five would be the #2 of Brian Wilson.

In feature three Cory Young in the #36 would have to start dead last due to the inversion of best combined finish going to the rear and worst combined finish going to the front. This left the field for Cory Young to battle through in order to complete the sweep. But Cory Young was determined and by the half-way point Cory Young had battled from the last position to being the leader. When the checkers flew it ended with the #36 of Young getting first and taking the three feature sweep at Sprint Into Spring. Second would go to the #86 of Nick Clarke, third went to the #14 of Jason Tolton, Fourth was Tim Tolton in the #35 and the #24 of Cody Hayes would round out the top 5.

An exhibition Figure 8s race and a demo derby were also held in order to show just what the two classes had in store for the 2016. After the checkers flew in the Figure 8 the cars were lined up the tires in the infield moved and the green flag was shown kicking off the Demo Derby. Early on the #182 of Lyle Lorenz would be eliminated. The #05 of Brandon Cox was the next person to be eliminated due to a door hit. This left Brody Scheistel in the #7 and the #55 to battle it out for a winner. In the end the winner was the #55 of Joshua Archibald.

The next time cars hit the track is April 30 at 1pm and May 7th at 1pm for open practices. Cars are $25 to test and fans are free. The Season officially kicks off May 14 at 7pm with Fun Stocks, Mini Stocks, Outlaw Late Models, Street Stocks, Crazy Trains and a visit from the Ontario Pro Challenge Series. It’s a night you won’t want to miss. Admission is $13.00 for ages 11 and up and $2 for ages 10 and down.
