TROIS RIVIERES, QC (August 11, 2019)- Canada’s Best Racing Team (CBRT) with driver Anthony Simone were excited to return to one of the most storied street circuits for round number eight of the 2019 NASCAR Pinty’s Series this past weekend. The #1 Silverline Tools Dodge showed speed when finally, able to get on track after weather delays. However, some bad luck erased hopes of a prosperous weekend.

Simone has previously finished as runner up in this race and the entire #1 Silverline Tools Dodge team were eager to hit the track. However significant rain showers shortened the schedule practice session and it wasn’t worth the risk to try and squeeze in a couple of laps. Weather also cancelled the Saturday afternoon qualifying session meaning the cars would line up by points as per NASCAR rules.

Teams were given a 30-minute practice session prior to the 50-lap race on Sunday and Simone showed some speed in the #1 Silverline Tools Dodge posting a top-ten lap time.

Trouble arose shortly after the green flag wave on Sunday afternoon when the window net on the driver’s door of the #1 Silverline Tools Dodge came undone forcing Simone to stop on pit road and have the window net refastened.

“It’s a safety issue and we had to stop” explained the driver.

Returning to the battle Simone began hustling the #1 Silverline Tools Dodge in hopes the cautions would fall in their favour allowing him to pick up more positions. Unfortunately, after one of those caution periods Simone came upon two other competitors tangled together near the famous arch on the famed street circuit.

While Simone was able to stop, another driver behind him wasn’t looking far enough ahead to see the incident and collided with the #1 Silverline Tools Dodge and caused significant damage to the car.

“He ran along the entire right side of the car and did a lot of damage” said a frustrated Simone after the race. “This was just one weekend where things worked against us, but we’ll be ready to go next week at Riverside”.
