Toronto, ON, May 15, 2013 – The Canadian Supercar Series (Supercar) kicks off its season this weekend at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park which will be the first time that Supercar is hosted at this famous track.
“We are excited to visit Canadian Tire Motorsport Park for the first time,” stated John Bondar, President of Supercar. “Our drivers are looking forward to experience the challenging layout and some great racing.”
Supercar is a car racing series for high performance and exotic race cars with typically over 400 horsepower. Supercar provides an environment for drivers to showcase their cars and to challenge other car makes of similar performance. Supercar encourages hard but fair competition under a code of respectful driving.
The competition is divided into two categories Super1 (red window banner) and Super2 (white window banner). Fans will see high performance race cars such as the Dodge Viper, Ferrari 458 and Porsche GT3 is Super1 (S1) while race cars such as the Audi S4, BMW M3, Chevrolet Corvette, Ford Mustang and Porsche Cayman/996/997 in Super2 (S2). The two Classes will compete at the same time on the track which will help to create some fabulous racing.
Supercar will travel to the airport track at Circuit ICAR for the first time in July. Trois-Rivières will be the next stop in August for the Grand Prix de Trois-Rivieres. The winner of that race will be presented with the prestigious Mayor’s Cup. The season finale will be held at Calabogie Motorsport Park in September.
