@ProStockTour Halifax, NS – (May 12, 2015) – The Parts for Trucks Pro Stock Tour is excited to announce that Exide Batteries has returned to the popular stock car touring series for a fourth season to present the Exide Batteries Rookie of the Year.

The program gives bonus money to eligible drivers who are running their first full-time season with the Parts for Trucks Pro Stock Tour and culminates with the presentation of the Exide Batteries Rookie of the Year trophy.

In 2014, Sarah McKay of Quispamsis, New Brunswick made history by becoming the first female driver to compete on the Parts for Trucks Pro Stock Tour. The 18 year old drove to the Exide Batteries Rookie of the Year Award, joining names like two-time Tour champion Shawn Turple (2005) and Atlantic Cat 250 Champions Lonnie Sommerville (Barnesville, NB – 2007), Craig Slaunwhite (Terence Bay, NS – 2008) and Dylan Blenkhorn (Truro, NS – 2013).

The 2015 season is slated to see at least two rookies go at it for the prestigious title. Prospect, Nova Scotia’s DJ Casey and Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island’s Joel Hickox have officially signaled intentions to run the full Parts for Trucks Pro Stock Tour schedule. Both have impressive resumes in late model cars at their home tracks and will be excellent additions to the series.

The chase for the Exide Batteries Rookie of the Year Award begins on Saturday, May 23rd, when the Parts for Trucks Pro Stock Tour takes the green flag for the Lucas Oil 100 at Scotia Speedworld. The Parts for Trucks Pro Stock Tour will be joined by the Atlantic Tiltload Maritime League of Legends Series.
