STROUD, ON (September 27, 2017)- After leading several laps, Eric Yorke came up just short of scoring the victory in the Velocity 250 at Sunset Speedway.

Yorke was fast during Saturday’s qualifying, winning his first heat with a third-place finish in the second qualifier to lock himself into the field for Sunday’s main event.

Starting near the front for the 35-lap feature, he moved into second in the opening laps, before passing Nic Montanari on Lap 4 to take over the top spot. He would lead until the first caution flew at Lap 26 for a car going around. Restarting first, he battled side-by-side with Andy Kamrath, slipping back to second on Lap 27. He’d battle for a bit with Doug Butler, before slipping back another spot to third with six laps to go. He didn’t give up, though, challenging Butler back, but the caution came out for a spin in turn two.

Restarting third, he battled back and forth with Nic Montanari till the third caution flew on Lap 33 for a three-car incident. He would battle hard once again on the following restart, crossing the finish line in third.

It was confirmed this week that Eric Yorke is your 2017 NASCAR Whelen All-American Series Division III Champion. The NWAAS puts Sunset’s drivers up against competitors from 60 different tracks across North America, with each driver earning points based on their finishes at NASCAR-sanctioned tracks. A more in-depth press release in relation to the championship will be forth coming.

Yorke and DY Racing are proud to be supported by Can-Alignment Motorsports, Solex Steel, Partimer Signs, Skytec Rentals, Budget Tire, Scentsy Consultant – Lisa DeLeeuw, and Cabral Racing Promotions.
