@GP3R •@NASCARHomeTrack •#NASCARPintysSeries •Trois-Rivières, QC, August 14, 2016 – Patrick Dussault was hoping for a strong comeback at the Grand Prix de Trois-Rivières this weekend, when he entered the race “Les 50 tours Can-Am” in the NASCAR Pinty’s series. The driver began the race strong, but a mechanical issue forced the Hewitt Rentals/Vincent & Dussault Construction No 71 back to the pits.
The 24-year-old driver was getting quicker and quicker during all weekend. 16th on the starting grid for the 50-lap race, Dussault knew he had to use patience on this narrow and dangerous street course.
“It is very difficult to overtake and I didn’t want to take unnecessary risks. That is just what I did: I was behind another driver, waiting for him to make a mistake. The Hewitt Rentals/Vincent & Dussault Construction No 71 car was quick, and I would certainly have gained some spots this way”, said Dussault.
Unfortunately, after 17 laps completed, the left ball joint broke and forced the driver to retire to pits for long minutes. PB Racing team repaired the car quickly, and it came back on track nine laps behind leaders.
“At this time, I wanted to finish the race and complete as many laps as I could. When I came back on track, the car was hard to handle because the team removed the sway bar after the mechanical issue. I did everything that I could in these circumstances”, mentioned Dussault.
The Hewitt Rentals/Vincent & Dussault Construction No 71 car finished in 16th place.
“It’s unfortunate, because the car was quick. I could have hoped for a top-five finish. The one I was fighting with before the incident finished in sixth place, and I believe that I was quicker that him”, he concluded.
PB Racing team and the Hewitt Rentals/Vincent & Dussault Construction No 71 will be at the Canadian Tire Motorsport Park, on September 3 and 4, for the NASCAR Pinty’s race held during the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series weekend.
