SHERWOOD PARK, AB – While it is still very much winter in Sherwood Park, Alberta, Racer Noel Dowler and the #5 EMCO-Rheem Dodge team are already putting the finishing touches on their race cars for their first events of the 2013 racing season. In less than two weeks Dowler will be at Daytona International Speedway to compete in the first ever UNOH Battle at the Beach. In addition, Dowler will also be competing at the World Series of Asphalt at New Smyrna Speedway during Speedweeks.
The #5 EMCO-Rheem Dodge drivers competed last season full time in the NASCAR Canadian Tire Series and got plenty of attention for his racing skills. The chance to compete in the US at the Battle at the Beach against a strong field of champions will give Dowler the opportunity to improve his skills.
“Any time you can race against good competition it’s an opportunity to learn,” said Dowler. “A lot of the drivers in this race are champions from other NASCAR feeder series and I’m looking forward to racing against them” he added.
Dowler will gain additional experience competing at New Smyrna Speedway at the World Series of Asphalt.
“So many racers from all over come to New Smyrna and the competition is pretty tough. We want to see how our team does competing at this high level, it will definitely help us get ready for the NASCAR Canadian Tire Series this summer” he stated.
Veteran Crew Chief Chris Wright returns again this season to the #5 EMCO-Rheem Dodge team. Wright has a lot of experience all the way up to the top levels of NASCAR competition. In addition this year the team is pleased to welcome Lawrence Roy as Car Chief.
“Lawrence is working with us full time and we’re already seeing the benefits from his hard work” said Dowler. “Everybody gets better each year and we’re stepping up our program as well to compete with the top teams in the NASCAR Canadian Tire Series” he added.
While he won’t turn 20 years old until later this month, Dowler has already amassed quite a racing resume. Despite only running only select events in 2011 he finished third in the NASCAR Canadian Tire Series Rookie of the Year standings. In his sophomore season last year he scored five top ten results along with his first podium result, a third place finish at Barrie Speedway and finished tenth in the overall championship standings.
“Our team has really grown and taken some big steps forward, but we’ve still got a few more steps to take this year” said Dowler.
