BOWMANVILLE, ON (May 20, 2018)-  All the hard work was rewarded for Canada’s Best Racing Team (CBRT) at the season opening event of the NASCAR Pinty’s Series this past weekend at the Victoria Day Speedfest at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park (CTMP). Under very challenging circumstances both James Vance & Brett Taylor scored top-ten finishes in the race. And the third CBRT driver Larry Jackson also had a strong outing.

Making his debut with CBRT in the Pinty’s series Vance hoped to get the #1 Deloitte/ExpoSystems Ford Fusion out for as much practice as possible on Saturday. Same with Taylor in the #46 OSTFF Rockstar Energy machine. However stubborn rain showers only allowed for a 30-minute session and forced the cancellation of qualifying.

No qualifying session meant that Taylor would line up 19thin the field and Vance would start dead last. Neither remained in those positions for long. With consistency and determination both moved steadily forward in the field all afternoon. It was a tremendous showing that has CBRT General Manager Joey McColm excited for the season ahead.

“It was an incredible display, really gritty effort by the drivers and the whole team,” said McColm. “Brett did a great job with another top-ten finish here, solid start to his rookie campaign. And for James, he was up to sixth but had a little misstep on the final restart, he missed a shift or he could have been in the top-five or maybe even better”.

Jackson also had challenges with a refueling issue during pit stops but the driver of the #25 Sun Space Sunroom/Wonder bread car put forth a determined effort that enabled him finish 17th.

This was the kind of start to the season that McColm had hoped to see from the CBRT group. “There was a lot of work done in the off season and the whole team was great this weekend with pit stops and scrambling when the weather messed with the schedule. And we’re going to keep building from here” stated McColm.
