NEW SMYRNA BEACH, FL- After a mini-season wrought with adversity, Edmonton, AB’s Denver Foran persevered through Night 6, earning his first top-10 of the World Series.
The team dedicated their afternoon practice sessions to hot-lapping their new Lefthander by Shear chassis, with Crew Chief Jeff Fultz adjusting the car to Denver’s liking.
‘We’ve been so close to finding a combination that works all week long’, said Foran. ‘Today, Jeff [Fultz] hit on something and it worked great’
In their first appearance with the new chassis, the team qualified 16th overall, giving Denver an inside row 8 starting position.
‘Our time trial efforts haven’t been perfect all week’, offered Foran. ‘We were a little loose in qualifying, so we knew we were going to have our work cut out for us when it came time to race’.
Despite his back-half starting position, Foran wasted little time jumping up into the fray and challenging for position, racing just outside of the top-10 at the halfway mark.
‘We made a couple small adjustments just before we rolled out tonight’, explained the 17-year old. ‘They worked out great. I had a bullet right from the green flag’.
Foran worked his way through the talent-laden field, eventually dodging a pair of multi-car incidents that sidelined several teams.
‘It was a rough feature tonight. Guys are fighting for every inch on the track and there are some really good cars being torn up because of it’, said Foran.
When the dust settled, Denver Foran had notched a 10th place finish, his first top-10 of the 2014 World Series. Giving the team some much needed momentum as they head towards the 100-lap World Series finale on Saturday night.
‘I’m so proud of my team for sticking with me this week’, beamed Foran in post-race debriefing. ‘We’re really coming together as a unit and I feel as though we have as good a chance as anyone at the 100-lapper’.
Denver Foran’s World Series has been made possible thanks to MMD Mineral Sizing, Boxer Builder and The Men’s Room.
