LONDON, ON – Steve Smith (#84) of Arkona won the 40-lap Coca-Cola Super Stock feature race on Friday evening for Mobil Striping and Sweeping night at Delaware Speedway. Smith took the lead late in the hot and humid race from Paul Fothergill (#33) of London on lap 30. Fothergill had taken the lead from Jordan Lawrence (#78) of London on lap 10. Fothergill would finish second, third was Jeff Showler (#44) of Mt. Elgin. The battle for fourth and fifth was hotly contested towards the end of the race between fourth-place finisher Matt Robblee (#51) of Dorchester and Kris Lawrence (#28) of London. The Super Stock race ran caution free. Also during the evening, Kathleen Hosang (#16) of Zurich won her first-ever heat race of the season and by doing so also became the first female driver to ever win a super stock event.
Cory Young (#36x) of Owen Sound did his home track Sauble Speedway proud on Friday evening when he won the 35-Lap Open-Ontario Championship. Young took the lead quickly on lap 2 and found his way to a full turn lead before caution flew on lap 20. The caution tightened the field back up where the faster drivers were ready to join in to fight for the win. Branden Bullen (#67) of Bond Head and also representing Sauble Speedway was able to challenge Young on restarts, even leading a single circuit on lap 30 but fell back slightly as laps ticked away. Young came up short on the final restart on lap 33 and finished solidly in second. Third was Clark Hartman (#51) of Waterloo representing Varney Speedway.
A rookie went to victory lane in the Demar Aggregates Trucks when Trevor Collver (#51) of Lucan took the win in the 40-lap race. The race appeared to be all but locked up for Devon Bloemendal (#01) of Delaware who had taken the lead from rookie driver Jeff Denboer (#22) of London. With a half straight lead Bloemendal looked very comfortable, but suddenly found Collver on his bumper with 3 laps to go in the race. Collver succeeded in passing Bloemendal on the final lap of the race, sending the stunned rookie to victory lane. Bloemendal finished second, third was Brady Smith (#39) of Coldstream who rallied back after being sent to the back for his involvement in a caution on lap 20.
Results have been posted for all divisions but points will not be available until all vehicles have completed technical inspection.

The July 18 APC Summer Showdown in support of the London Health Sciences Foundation is less than two weeks away. The event features Nascar Super Star drivers Michael Waltrip, Clint Bowyer, and Travis Pastrana running in local cars in competition against local drivers. Fans are being strongly encouraged to purchase their tickets online early for the event which carries a high-risk of selling out. While there will be tickets available at the door, the only way for fans to guarantee entry to the event is to purchase their ticket online (with no service fees) through the track website.
