GEARY, NB – (May 29th, 2022) – Dave O’Blenis (Boundary Creek, NB) entered the weekend sitting at 98 career feature victories. When the dust settled after two days of racing, the multi-time Pro Stock track champion had broken the 100 mark.
O’Blenis scored the win in both the Pro Stock 100 on Saturday afternoon and followed it up Sunday by holding off Chris Duncan (Hampton, NB) in the 50-lap Pro Stock feature as a part of Steele GMC Kids Day. Lonnie Sommerville (Barnesville, NB) finished third on Sunday after an incredible battle between he, O’Blenis and Wyatt Alexander (Ellsworth, ME).
Meanwhile, Dave’s daughters Courtney and Alexandra (Boundary Creek, NB) were able to score a 1-2 finish in the Late Model Sportsman feature on Steele GMC Kids Day. Courtney battled with Brady Creamer (Miramichi, NB) for most of the race before Creamer got the edge on the final restart with eight to go. A small bobble from Creamer allowed Courtney to get by on the final lap to capture her first win of 2022. Creamer was third on Sunday. Saturday’s Late Model Sportsman win during the Riverview Ford Lincoln Season Opener went to Drew Greenlaw (Eastport, ME).
The weekend’s action in the Street Stocks went to Curtis Collins (Saint John, NB). Collins subbed in for Michael Cormier (Grand-Barachois, NB) in the No. 68 Street Stock. A wild feature this afternoon saw Rick Cashol (Saint John, NB) and Justin Cole (Harvey, NB) finish second and third following post race technical inspection.
Darren Wilcox (Fredericton, NB) was awarded Sunday’s Fredericton Gun Shop Sharp Shooter victory after Ryan Bernard (Minto, NB) failed post race technical inspection. BJ Gillespie (Harvey, NB) was second in the 22-car field on Sunday with Malcolm Suley (Clarendon, NB) racing his way to third in his first start of 2022. Daniel Atyeo (Chipman, NB) was the winner in Saturday’s Sharp Shooter feature during the Riverview Ford Lincoln Season Opener.
The Cross Roads Maritime League of Legends Tour Season Opener, the Samuel, Son & Co. 50, was won by Canning, Nova Scotia’s Danny Chisholm. Ayden Christensen (Windsor Junction, NS) outdueled Chase MacKay (Bear Cove, NS) for the win in the Bandolero class.
