BOWMANVILLE, ON (August 21, 2019) – Canadian Tire Motorsport Park (CTMP) is announcing today that TSN anchor Dan O’Toole will be the Grand Marshal for this weekend’s exciting Chevrolet Silverado 250, Canada’s biggest NASCAR weekend featuring NASCAR’s Gander Outdoors Truck Series.
An enthusiastic NASCAR fan, O’Toole is well known as the co-host of TSN’s SC With Jay and Dan, alongside long-time colleague Jay Onrait.
“When racing comes to Clarington, count me in,” said O’Toole. “The fact that we get to show off a world-class track in our own backyard to the NASCAR community gives me great joy. Now let’s go racing!”
O’Toole will say the most famous words in racing, “Drivers Start Your Engines,” before the green flag is dropped on the Gander Trucks this Sunday.
One of the most anticipated NASCAR weekends on the Gander Trucks calendar, the Chevrolet Silverado 250 has produced some of the most thrilling, and sometimes heated, finishes in recent NASCAR memory. As well, for the second year running, this event will serve as a Playoff Race for the Gander Trucks.
A full lineup of racing is featured alongside the Gander Trucks including Canada’s NASCAR Pinty’s Series in Sunday’s TOTAL Quartz 200. Also racing will be the Nissan Micra Cup, Canadian Touring Car Championship and – a new addition to this weekend – the Toyo Tires F1600 Championship Series; Canada’s most competitive open-wheel racing format with a rich 50-year history. As well, TSN will broadcast the NASCAR Pinty’s TOTAL Quartz 200 from CTMP on Sunday, Sept. 1 at 1:30pm ET.
Off-track, the CTMP Marketplace is the main-hub of action including food trucks, vendors, merchandise, giveaways and prizes, and the Turn 1 Beer Garden featuring CTMP’s exclusive 61 Lager by Whitby’s own Brock Street Brewery. On Saturday night fans are invited to the Beer Garden for live-music and fireworks.
Children 16 and under are admitted free to the event when accompanied by a paying adult. Weekend camping passes are available for tents, pop-up trailers and RV’s.
