CALGARY, AB – MAY 27, 2012 – Canadian Crazy Leo Urlichich and his British Co-Driver Carl Williamson impressed with a solid 3rd place result in the Rocky Mountian Rally this past weekend.
This event was the second round of the Canadian Rally Championship and as expected gave the competitors many challenges over the two days. Friday the competitors had to deal with wet, muddy conditions and Saturday it was fast, dusty stages that were the order of the day.
Crazy Leo showed good pace, and continues to close the gap between himself and the much more experienced contenders Antoine L’Estage and fellow Subaru driver Pat Richard. L’Estage emerged the eventual winner, gaining ground on the first day with 2nd place finisher Richard enjoying a hotly contested second day of the rally with Crazy Leo, beating him by a slight margin.
“It felt amazing to be in the shooting range of Pat Richard’s pace in these challenging conditions,” remarked Crazy Leo. “I’ve been starving for a good fight, and with our improved pace and some luck my wish came true! Can’t wait to see what we will be able to do at Rallye Baie des Chaleurs.”
Co-Driver Carl Williamson said, “What a rally. We’ve been through every type of weather, very muddy roads on day 1 and dry roads on day 2. We had a great fight with Pat and got closer to Antoine on pace on some super fast stages so we are confident that things are moving in the right direction. 3rd overall in the Canadian Rockies was already a great finish to the weekend, but Leo is taking me sightseeing around Lake Louise. Very romantic, but If he asks me to hold hands I’m out of there.”
Final Results:
1. L’Estage / Richard 1:22:24.40
2. Richard / Ockwell 1:24:03.50
3. Crazy Leo / Williamson 1:24:29.20
