(BOWMANVILLE, Ont. – Aug. 24, 2018) Ajax, Ontario’s Kris Barclay, the 2018 Chevrolet Boots & Hearts Music Festival Emerging Artist Showcase winner will be the Grand Marshal for this weekend’s Chevrolet Silverado 250 at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park (CTMP). Canada’s biggest NASCAR event, running today through Sunday, August 26, features the opening race of the Camping World Truck Series (NCWTS) 2018 playoffs – the first time an international track will host a series playoff round.
Before Barclay gives the driver’s start your engine command for Sunday’s feature Chevrolet Silverado 250, he’ll perform Saturday night at 8:15 pm on the Silverado Stage in CTMP’s Marketplace. Following his performance, the night sky will light up with a spectacular fireworks display. Barclay’s performance as well as other great off-track action is included with the purchase of an event ticket. The Canadian Tire Action Zone features fun and engaging interactive displays for kids of all ages, while the CTMP Marketplace includes the Carlsberg beer garden with a DJ playing music throughout the day. Fans will also have excellent opportunities to meet and speak with drivers at autograph sessions planned for the event.
The race weekend will feature many of today’s rising NASCAR stars as the NCWTS makes its sixth consecutive annual appearance at Canada’s legendary track. Niagara-on-the-Lake’s Stewart Friesen is the only Canadian among eight drivers that have qualified to begin the playoff quest for the 2018 Driver’s Championship starting with the Chevrolet Silverado 250. The weekend event also features exciting action from the Canadian-based NASCAR Pinty’s Series and the TOTAL Quartz 200, as well as racing from the Ultra 94 Porsche GT3 Cup Challenge Canada by Yokohama, the Canadian Touring Car Championship, and the Nissan Micra Cup.
Weekend Super Tickets and Race Day Sunday tickets are available at CTMP gates. Children 16 and under are free when accompanied by a paying adult. Limited Reserved Camping sites located trackside (some of the best seats in the house), General & RV camping sites, and VIP Hospitality packages (for those who would like to be closer to the action in style) are also still available.
