Last chance to catch the Agera RS in Toronto

TORONTO, ON — As the record-setting 2018 Canadian International AutoShow enters its final weekend, it is the last chance to catch the unique features and attractions that have made this year’s instalment of Canada’s largest consumer show even bigger and better.

Kicked off a week ago with the Canadian premiere of 41 cars, trucks and concepts — including the Canadian debut of the world’s fastest production car, the Koenigsegg Agera RS — the 2018 AutoShow has continued to bring in record crowds to the Metro Toronto Convention Centre. There is nowhere else in Canada where you will find all major automotive manufacturers under one roof, interesting and engaging special features and the best collection of cars and trucks with all of the latest options and technology.

One of the many exhibits to explore this weekend belongs to Porsche, which added a new owner to its ranks on Friday when Robert Peressotti of Port Colborne was announced as the winner of Prostate Cancer Canada’s ‘Rock the Road Raffle’, which carried a white 2017 Porsche 911 Carrera Cabriolet as its grand prize.

The car, valued at $176,251.61, was donated by the Trillium Automobile Dealers Association to Prostate Cancer Canada, which raffled it off in a fundraising effort to raise money for prostate cancer research. In an interesting twist, Peressotti is a prostate cancer survivor.

Besides Peressotti’s new Porsche, which is on display in Level 600 of the South Building, there are many last-chance, can’t-miss features and attractions worth checking out this weekend at the AutoShow. Among them are:
• Tuner Battlegrounds: AutoShow Edition. It’s down to the final two in this online, bracket-style competition for modified cars hosted by Performance Auto & Sound magazine (PASMAG). Daren Singh, with his 2012 Infiniti G37 is up against Dominic Dubreuil and his 1996 Volkswagen Jetta, and it all comes down to your vote. The cars are on display in the 700 Level of the South Building, so be sure to check them out and vote for your favourite at autoshow.tunerbattlegrounds.com. Voting closes on Sun., Feb. 25, at noon ET. The winner will be announced at the show between 12:30 and 1 p.m., and will receive a $5,000 cash award, along with a prize pack from Silverwax.

• eSports Arena. The Grand Finale for this new attraction, where 10 finalists compete against one another in Forza Motorsport 7 on Xbox One for cash and prizes, takes place on Sun. Feb. 25 from 1 – 2:30 p.m. in the 700 Level of the South Building. One last competitor will be added on Feb. 25, from 10 a.m. – 12:55 p.m. As a bonus, the winner will have the chance to compete against a professional driver in a double or nothing race-off. The finale will be live-streamed online at autoshow.ca/esport-motorsport-gaming/

• 50 Years of Hot Wheels. A huge hit with kids and adults alike, the 50 Years of Hot Wheels display is a must-see attraction in the 700 Level of the South Building. The exhibit includes a Hot Wheels super track, a huge Hot Wheels display of collector cars and six life-size Hot Wheels cars, including the Darth Vader car and the 1967 Chevrolet Camaro RS.

• 70 Years of Porsche. This feature display celebrates the evolution of Porsche over the past 70 years by bringing together five classic and historically significant Porsche models, including the first production model, the 356, the Porsche 911 (930) Turbo and the 918 Spyder hybrid supercar. It can be found on Level 100 of the North Building, next to the Auto Exotica display.
