HAGERSVILLE, ON (June 2, 2019)- Canada’s Best Racing Team (CBRT) returned to action this past weekend for round number two of the NASCAR Pinty’s Series at Jukasa Motor Speedway near Hamilton, Ontario. Anthony Simone looked to be piloting the #1 Silverline Tools Dodge to a very promising result until late race contact derailed that plan.
Simone looked right at home in the #1 Silverline Tools Dodge from the start of the weekend during Saturday practice. The team made adjustments during practice and Simone posted the eighth fastest qualifying lap to set up a row four starting spot for the 200-lap main event scheduled for the evening. Rain showers would postpone the race until Sunday.
“We were pleased with Anthony’s showing during qualifying and it was great to see Brett Taylor with his best ever qualifying effort start alongside in row four” said CBRT General Manager Joey McColm.
Once the action began Simone began looking for opportunities to move the #1 Silverline Tool Dodge forward in the field. Through the mid point of the race Simone ran up into the top five. “All looked to be on track for us, we planned to stop or tires a bit later and figured that would set us up well for the finish” said McColm.
Following scheduled service for fresh tires Simone again was looking for his chance to move forward in the #1 Silverline Dodge. With 35 laps remaining in the race Simone was shoved aside by another driver and went hard into the outside wall. Simone limped the car to pit lane where the team determined the panhard bar was broken and they were unable to continue.
“We had a top five car today and to get pushed aside like that, it’s frustrating to say the least” said McColm. “This whole team did a lot of work over the winter to have run up at the front, well we’ve proven we can do that in the first two races but didn’t get all the results we’d earned” he added.
Driver Jason White is also running out of the CBRT shop and posted his second consecutive top-ten result with a ninth place finish. Brett Taylor overcame a spin in the first half of the race and rebounded to score an 11th place finish.
“Good to see another good run for Jason. Unfortunately Brett got turned around but he did a nice job to comeback and just missed out on another top-ten finish here at Jukasa” said McColm.
