INNISFIL, ON- 14-year old Cayden Lapcevich completed his first career Sunset Speedway Super Stock hat trick on May 24th, winning his qualifying heat race, Dash for Cash and his second ever 30-lap feature event in one of the most impressive evenings in his young career.
“This was an amazing day”, reflected Lapcevich in victory lane. “This car was awesome all day long. All we had to adjust was the stagger. I can’t thank my team enough”
After claiming the first two rounds of qualifying, ‘The Prodigy’ drew a ’12’ in the Super Stock inversion, putting his Tim Hortons No. 76 outside Row 6 for the 30-lap feature.
“I wasn’t a huge fan of the invert before the feature”, smiled Lapcevich. “It’s great for the fans, but doesn’t make for an easy night when you have to drive from 12th”
“I knew that, if I took care of my equipment and kept my nose clean, I would have car that could contend for the win”, continued Lapcevich when asked about his spirited drive through the field.
The well-spoken high-school student made sure to credit his team when asked of the car’s performance through the early 2014 campaign.
“This car is just so good, and it keeps getting better”, marveled Lapcevich. “I don’t know how my team does it. Every time I think we’re perfect, they find a way to make it even better”
“We’re here now”, closed Lapcevich as his voice filled with confidence. “And I hope people realize that”
Cayden Lapcevich’s 2014 season is made possible thanks to continued support from Tim Hortons, Troy Cove Marine, Springers Meats, EPIC Racewear by OnePromo.ca and Cathcart Trucking.
‘The Prodigy’ will return to action this Saturday, May 31st when the Super Stocks take to Sunset Speedway for another 30-lap feature event. Gate times and ticket prices are available at www.SunsetSpeedway.ca
