Castrol Presents Victoria Day Speedfest Weekend Underway At CTMP

BOWMANVILLE, Ont. – (May 18, 2018) Friday marked the opening of the 2018 racing season at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park as the green flag flew on the first day of the Castrol presents Victoria Day SpeedFest weekend. Running May 18-20, the event features competition from six different series.

Italy’s Daniel Mancinelli, in the No. 31 TR3 Ferrari 488 GT3 posted the quickest Pirelli World Challenge (PWC) GT class time of the day in the series’ first practice session with a 1:14.811. Tsawwassen, British Columbia’s Scott Hargrove comes into the weekend leading in the GT Driver’s Championship – the driver of the No. 96 Pfaff Motorsports Porsche 911 GT3 R posted his quickest time in the second practice session with a 1:15.251.

In other Friday action, Chicago’s Jeff Green in the No. 88 Team Stradale Radical SR3 RSX won the first of two Radical Cup North America races scheduled for the weekend.

Saturday’s action-packed schedule begins at 8 am with the Radical Cup North America Round 2 race. On-track competition also features Race 1 for the Pirelli World Challenge GT class at 1:55 pm, while NASCAR Pinty’s series qualifying for Sunday’s Clarington 200 starts at 5:10 pm. Once the on-track action comes to an end, the band Two for the Show will be performing followed by a fireworks show at dusk.
