MILLGROVE, Ontario (August 18, 2021)- — After spending the past couple weeks off, the Canadian Vintage Modifieds will be back in action on Saturday, August 21 at Flamboro Speedway.

Thus far, the series has been able to get in five nights, nine features in this season, with six different drivers reaching victory lane. In total, three of those drivers have been able to replicate their success more than once, with nobody making it a trio of wins yet.

Defending series champion TJ Marshall won the opening night, followed by a win on the most recent night of competition. However, if he wants to make it happen again, it will have to come after a series of repairs, as he crashed out of the second feature following his first race victory on July 31. That’s just an example of the rocky season, with six top-five’s to go with three DNFs thus far.

Mike Podd won on the second night of competition, followed by a victory on July 25. He has been hard at work since the last night of competition, though, as he also crashed out on July 31. Prior to then, though, he has scored six top-five’s to go with a single DNF.

Quinton Murdoch scored his first career division victory on July 25, followed by another in the next event a week later. It shows the progress of the young talent across the board in the series, as Murdoch has finished top-10 each event, with five top-five finishes.

It is also worth noting the No. 18 has visited victory lane twice this season, just with a pair of different drivers. Jeremy Riopelle did it first, followed by Jerrid Morphy taking his turn in doing so as they share the seat this season. The pair have both done a splendid job, with seven top-five’s and just one appearance outside the top-10.

The last driver to reach victory lane this season is John Karley, who accomplished the feat on July 10 after a complete rebuild this past off-season. Outside of the victory, though, it’s been a struggle behind the wheel with just four top-10’s this year, and his highest finish being seventh after the win.

While it’d be no surprise to see any of these individuals repeat on Saturday night, there are several drivers who are hoping to get a victory of their own.

Joe Arsenault has shown speed this season, as evident by a pair of runner-ups in the latest night of competition to have the best average finish on the night. He has also been fast in his previous five appearances, scoring three top-five finishes.

Daryl Henwood has visited CVM victory lane in previous seasons, and should be able to do so once again this year. His most recent night of competition on July 25 saw him pick up a fourth and sixth.

Rick WIlligar accomplished the feat for the first time last year, which certainly should give him confidence alongside the runner-up from the 25th, followed by a pair of top-five’s a week later. Before then, he scored four top-10’s, including a pair of fifths.

The night of racing on August 21 will also feature the Qwick Wick Can-Am Midget Series, Super Stocks, Mini Stocks, Pure Stocks, and Spectator Drags. This is when we give our regular spectators in our grandstands the chance to race their regular cars one-on-one against another fan in a drag race around the track. The winner stays on the track to race another fan and when we are down to two cars left, one more lap will give us the winner of a trophy, $100 cash, and the bragging rights of being named the winner of spectator drags.

With the province moving into stage three of the COVID re-opening government plan, Flamboro Speedway is allowed to host 75% capacity in the grandstands. No tickets will be sold online, but rather available at the gate on a first come, first serve basis. The spectator gates will open at 5 pm with racing kicking off at 6:30 pm sharp.
