November 9, 2013- The Four Points by Sheraton hotel in Kingston, ON was the site for the 2013 closing ceremonies of the Canadian Touring Car Championship presented by Continental Tire series. With over 80 guests in attendance, series founder John Bondar and Director of Communications Dominique Longval hosted the Gala of Champions, recognizing not only the accomplishments of their racing participants, but also expressing appreciation for the support of their sponsorship partners.
Despite presenting awards to the top three finishers in each of the three CTCC racing divisions, the loudest reception was reserved for the class champions, Scott Nicol (Super), Damon Sharpe (Touring), and Karl Wittmer (B-Spec). In addition to custom-created, blown glass trophies, the titleholders were also presented with a Continental Tire backpack, complete with gift certificates, as well as a Champion’s Ring.
Offering a trackside perspective of the racing seen in the Canadian Touring Car Championship this year, Bondar stated, “I’m always surprised at the intensity of our racers, and the respect shown to each other on the track. This truly defines the quality of talent in this field.”
Having just completed its seventh year of competition, the Canadian Touring Car Championship presented by Continental Tire continues to prosper, due in large part to the support of financial backers. Recognized for the contributions this year were Continental Tire, B&G Race Fuels, Racing Radios, Aim Sport (California), Quick Series Technologies and Inside Track Motorsport News.
