BOWMANVILLE, ON (July 6, 2018)– It is redemption weekend for Motorsports In Action as the team prepares for the only Canadian leg of the IMSA Continental Tire SportsCar Challenge at the Canadian Tire Motorsport Park (CTMP) this coming Saturday.
Montréal’s Jesse Lazare and Columbus’ Corey Fergus are going to attempt a podium finish during the Canadian Tire Motorsport Park 120. Last year, the team’s effort was cut short after a controversial penalty set the team back in the points, but also out of podium contention.
This year, the Canadian-based team had a tough start of the season, but with six events remaining to the calendar, the team is confident it can turn its bad luck around and finish the season as a top runner outfit.
Last weekend, the team participated in its second and final 4-hour endurance race of the 2018 season at Watkins Glen International (NY). The qualifying session was cut short due to a red flag, leaving no time for Jesse Lazare to put the car further up the grid. Nonetheless, the #69 Pfaff | Vero | Jetcraft | US Led Ltd car started 10thfor what proved to be an eventful race.
After a hit from behind, the car caught on fire in the pit lane, leaving a big hole and small mechanical issues for the remainder of the race. The team was able to finish the 4-hour event and is somewhat happy about a 16thplace finish as they didn’t think the car would hold off until the checkered flag.
Race Fest Downtown Toronto:
Jesse Lazare attended the IMSA Race Fest downtown Toronto this past Wednesday. Located at the Yonge-Dundas Square, the event attracted thousands of fans before the big race weekend at CTMP. The McLaren 570s GT4 was the center of the attention as the prestige and the legend surrounding this British car made it very impressive to the audience.
Jesse was invited for a live interview which was broadcast live in the square, then to an autograph session alongside Ricky Taylor (IMSA WeatherTech, Acura Team Penske), Christina Nielsen (IMSA WeatherTech, Wright Motorsports Porsche), Jan Magnussen (IMSA WeatherTech, Corvette Racing) and many more.
The IMSA Continental Tire SportsCar Challenge Canadian Tire Motorsport Park 120 goes green at 2:55 pm ET this Saturday! Watch online at IMSA.TV or on the IMSA App or tune in with IMSA Radio starting at 2:55 pm ET.
