STROUD, ON (August 11, 2019)- The long hours of hard work and planning are about to pay off. 2019’s edition of the Canadian Asphalt Legend Car Nationals will take the green flag this weekend at Sunset Speedway. Activities get underway Friday, August 16th with an afternoon of practice. Time trials and qualifying race action will take the Saturday, August 17th spotlight, with 25 and 30 lap main events to wrap-up the weekend on Sunday, August 18th.
Ontario Legends Series spokesperson Jeff Drimmie says there be some big money on the line.
“The top finishing driver in the Semi Pro/Young Lion, Masters and Pro divisions will receive $1500. Second place in each class will take home $1000, while drivers running third in each division get a payday of $750,” confirmed Drimmie. “The weekend’s overall champion earns $4000 and if that driver is lucky enough to claim both of Sunday’s features, they’ll pocket a $6000 bonus, for a weekend grand total of $10,000.”
To date, 24 drivers have confirmed their entries while another four have notified officials with the Trailers Plus Ontario Legends Series of their intention to compete. A maximum of 26 cars are slated to start each of the feature races. OLS and INEX rules will apply to all technical and inspection procedures, with Ontario Legends Series points awarded according to the OLS rulebook.
“This is the marquee Legends Series event in the province and we’re drawing our OLS regulars, as well as drivers and teams from Canada, the United States and as far away as Germany,” Drimmie continued. “Being named the 2019 Canadian Legend Car Asphalt Nationals champion could be the defining moment in a racer’s career.”
