@Rwalt31 • @McGlashan83 •(December 12, 2015)- Walt Motorsports is pleased to announce that they will be expanding for the 2016 season, with Cameron McGlashan is set to race a full late model schedule for the team.
“Having Cameron join Walt Motorsports is a great opportunity for both of us moving forward,” Rick Walt said. “Cam showed amazing talent and car control throughout the season.”
This past season at Sunset Speedway, McGlashan finished second in Mighty Mini points with three feature victories and 13 feature top-10s behind the wheel of the No. 83 Mustang. As a result, McGlashan was crowned the 2015 Sunset Speedway NASCAR IV Division Champion in his rookie season of competition.
“I think this is an amazing opportunity for me,” McGlashan said. “Anytime you can team up with a championship organization like Walt Motorsports, only good things can happen. It’s gonna be a good a huge adjustment for me, that’s for sure, but this team has a lot of good people on it that prepare our cars. I have one of the best driver coaches in my teammate so I’m excited to see what we can do together in 2016.”
McGlashan made his Super Stock debut in the biggest event of the season at Sunset Speedway, the Velocity 250, completing all 50 laps for a solid debut. Walt commented that the deal came about through working with McGlashan throughout the season, and a couple late discussions following his super stock debut.
“Cam showed a lot of talent when Mike Brown put him in the Thunder this year and we all got to work with Cam and help him learn more,” Walt added. “It’s a big jump for Cameron, but we have all the confidence in the world for him.”
This past season, Walt Motorsports experienced success across the province, with some top-fives at Sunset Speedway, as well as a victory in the Chase for the Colours event at Peterborough Speedway. Walt parlayed the pole for the Autumn Colours Classic into a fourth place finish.
Currently the 2016 schedule for McGlashan has him running each weekend at Peterborough Speedway, as well as every special at Sunset Speedway and the surrounding tracks.
Walt Motorsports is proudly sponsored by HOTC, Jim Wilson Chevrolet, PumpMyTank.ca, Seaton Structures and Baker Performance Parts.
Thus far, McGlashan only has one sponsor locked up for 2016 – England Enterprises, but plans to make future announcements throughout the off-season in regards to more sponsorship.
