INNISFIL, Ontario (May 25, 2017)— Starting tail of the Spring Velocity field at Sunset Speedway, Cameron McGlashan put on a show driving to the front en route to a top-five finish.
Qualifying for the 35-lap feature took place on the Saturday of the weekend. However, prior commitments kept the No. 83 Mustang from making it on track for the day. As a result when the second day of the show took place on Monday, McGlashan started from the 23rd position.
He immediately begin to move forward, running 14th as of the first caution at Lap 4. He continued to move forward, going three-wide for fifth with Paul Boyd and Johnny Paradzinski at Lap 12. He’d get the spot on Lap 13, then passing Warren Paxton for fourth at Lap 15.
With a lack of cautions, it was tough for McGlashan to make up ground on the top-three runners. He’d close on the back of Nic Montanari in the final five laps, though was unable to complete the pass, placing fourth.
Kicking off the season with three top-seven finishers, including a runner-up on opening night, certainly has McGlashan Motorsports confident heading into the third points night of the season on Saturday, May 27. It’ll mark a busy day at Sunset Speedway with the APC Auto Parts United Late Models of Ontario Tour on deck.
There was a make-up event scheduled for Sunday, May 28, but that has been cancelled by speedway officials due to an unfavorable forecast.
