BOWMANVILLE, ON- Armed with a freshly built Port City by Dan McHattie Racecars chassis, former Peterborough Speedway champion Bryan Sudsbury is ready to make his return to fulltime competition this Saturday, May 17th.
After watching from the sidelines in 2014,’Party Time’ has confirmed he will chase the 2015 Peterborough Speedway championship, and hopes that a strong outing in the season opener will point his team in the right direction.
“This race is two years in the making,” smiles Sudsbury. “I would be lying if I said I wasn’t nervous. We started preparing for this last year when we laid out the plans to build this new car. I don’t think I’ll ever be more excited to sign in at the pit gate than I will be on Saturday night”
Sudsbury has invested the better part of a calendar year working with multi-time Kawartha Speedway champion Dan McHattie to design and assemble his brand new ride.
“I’ve never had a brand new racecar before, so I’m a little prepared for some opening night hiccups,” offers Sudsbury. “Hopefully – whatever it is – we’ll be able to work through it. But, I’m not naïve enough to think that there won’t be a slight bump in the road”
“The craftsmanship on this car is unbelievable. I can’t say enough about Dan McHattie and the work that he does. I know that there aren’t many drivers that will have the honour of driving one of his cars, so I really do feel lucky. We shook the car down last Saturday and it felt fantastic”
“Every lap I spent behind the wheel testing this thing made me more excited for the 2015 season”
For the former Karting standout, a run towards a second division championship was in his sightlines all along.
“Coming back to Peterborough means the world to me. This is the most fun track in the province to race on and the competition here is incredible tough. I’m confident that we’ll have a strong enough program to win some races – but I know that it won’t be easy”
“We’ve won a championship here before – the goal is definitely to do it again,” adds the multi-time feature winner. “A win on Saturday night would give us a lot of momentum for the rest of the season”
“I think that if we can come out, establish a rhythm early and keep our nose clean then we’ll have a good chance of working our way into victory lane.”
