BROCKVILLE, ON – Brockville’s Kyle Dingwall had already served notice that he had returned as a force in the Modified division at Brockville Ontario Speedway. Dingwall solidified that a little more on Saturday night scoring his second feature win of the season at the Beast of the East on Tackaberry Construction Night.
It was a wild night for the Modifieds with two violent flips, Bobby Herrington took a points hit as he rolled in turn two in hot laps while Stephane LaFrance went end over end in turn 3 in a multi-car wreck early in the feature event. Both drivers were able to walk away after the incidents. Adam Turner turned some heads getting out to an early lead before finally yielding the top spot to Pat O’Brien. However, O’Brien would not hold onto the top spot for long as Dingwall pulled alongside and using the inside groove took the top spot for good before pulling away by a full straightaway by the finish. Lee Gill charged from the back after being involved in the LaFrance wreck to grab second followed by Pat and then Tim O Brien. Turner rounded out the top five.
Dylan Evoy was as dominant in the Sportsman ranks as Dingwall was in the Modifieds. The Brockville teenager picked up his fourth win of the season as he got to the front in quick order finally taking the lead from Ryan Poole and speeding away from everyone. The key decision was hopping up to the top of the track that allowed him to pass the three lead cars on the same lap. Jason Shipclark put in his best Brockville run ever in second with Bruce Makinson, Poole and Dana Aikins making up the fast five.
The return of the 420 continued in the Street Stocks as Derek Cryderman won his second in a row after returning from a horrible wreck a month ago, Derrick Eaton was a solid second with Steve Billings, Danny Mocibob and birthday boy John Gifford in tow. The Rookie 15 lapper came down to a photo finish followed by a red flag Brighton invader Justin Ramsay managed to barely hold off Joe McNichols coming to the checkered. Ramsay, in trying to control his car after a turn 4 bump in turn got into Geneva Sheffield sending her into the inside concreate barrier. Sheffield also managed to walk away from a heavy hit. Travis McLean was third in front of John Stanley and Jeff Humphry. Jason Powers took vintage honours over Paul Billings, Dave Wilgosh, Steve Arthbutnot and Denzil Billings.
Brockville Ontario Speedway returns to action next Saturday, July 28, with Napa Auto Parts Night. In addition to the regular program, the Mod lites will pay a visit, the kids will have a special tire race and the first inductees into the Brockville Speedway Hall of Fame will be announced.
