(July 27, 2019): NASCAR Pinty’s Series driver Brett Taylor and Ed Hakonson Racing (EHR) announce that the two have reached an agreement to work together as part of a two-car team for the remainder of the 2019 season and the 2020 campaign. The coming together happened faster than expected, but after initial discussions things moved quickly and the first event together this past weekend in the Pinty’s Grand Prix at the Toronto Indy showed some immediate benefits.
It is unusual for a driver to shift teams during the season and Brett Taylor provided some context and reasoning behind the change.
“This isn’t about making a change because anything was wrong, it’s looking at the long-term strategy to have the greatest success as a team and for me personally” explained Taylor.
Principal for EHR Ed Hakonson sees this as a great opportunity for both the team and Taylor.
“We’re thrilled to have Brett joining us” said Hakonson. “Bringing in a full time NASCAR Pinty’s Series driver from western Canada to join with our current operation provides us with unique opportunities to build partnerships on a national level” he added.
Along with improved performance & partnership growth the logistics work well for both parties.
“Having the entire operation run from our shop makes things easier for Brett who resides in Calgary with his family and where his business is located. This relationship allows him to better manage his time” said Hakonson and Taylor agrees. “Partnering with a championship caliber team like EHR, I know we’ll have well prepared cars and plenty of support at the track each weekend to take the next step in our growth” stated Taylor.
Brett Taylor is grateful for all the good things that happened with his former outfit and wishes them the best in the future.
“The people at CBRT (Taylor’s former team) were great with me, I was welcomed into the team, they were supportive, and I think we accomplished a lot together. Winning rookie of the year in 2018 wouldn’t have happened without all their hard work and I’m grateful for the opportunity”.
Brett Taylor and EHR return to action Wednesday July 24thwith twin 125 races at Wyant Group Raceway in Saskatoon, SK.
All NASCAR Pinty’s Series races are streamed live on TSN.ca, the TSN App and at fanschoice.tv
