(River Glade, NB- August 27, 2017) Dylan Blenkhorn (Truro, NS) took the lead for the final time on Lap 180 from Darren MacKinnon (Charlottetown, PE) and held on to win the Cummins 200. The extended lap Parts for Trucks Pro Stock Tour race was the culmination of the 53rd River Glade International weekend at Petty International Raceway. Blenkhorn was pressured late by Shawn Turple (Enfield, NS) and the two-time Series champion shadowed Blenkhorn to the checkered flag. Dylan Gosbee (Cornwall, PE) stormed back to the front after a rear end part failure to finish third. Russell Smith Jr (Lakeside, NS), substituting in for two-time International winner Craig Slaunwhite (Terence Bay, NS), was fourth, followed by Greg Proude (Springvale, PE).
Starting positions for the Cummins 200 were determined by Atlantic Tiltload Heat Races. Jonathan Hicken (Brudenell, PE), Blenkhorn and Mike Rodgers (Moncton, NB) picked up victories in their respective heats. For Rodgers, it was his first career Parts for Trucks Pro Stock Tour heat race victory and best starting position of his career as he rolled off third in the 200-lap affair. Brudenell, PE’s Jonathan Hicken led 84 laps of the 200 lap feature to take home the Linde Most Laps led.
Nicholas Naugle (Dartmouth, NS) receives the Exide Batteries Rookie of the Race with a sixth place finish. The King Freight Lines Future Winner Award, which goes to any driver in the field who has never won a Series race, was awarded to Smith Jr.
The Maritime League of Legends and Bandoleros kicked off the day’s festivities. Braden Langille (Shubenacadie, NS) won the Seaside Chevrolet 50, followed by Cory Hall (Jolicure, NB) and Waylon Farrell (Conception Bay South, NL). Austin MacDonald (Pictou, NS) won the 20 lap Leisure Days RV Bandolero contest on his 14th birthday.
