(BOWMANVILLE, Ont. –  Sept. 3, 2017) Austin Cindric overcame a mid-race stop-and-go penalty to charge back and win the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series Chevrolet Silverado 250 at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park (CTMP). Canada’s biggest NASCAR event of the year came to a close Sunday afternoon.

Polesitter Cindric, of Columbus, Ohio, in the No. 19 Draw-Tite Ford F-150 jumped out to the lead at the drop of the green flag and held off challenges through the first 32 laps in Stages 1 and 2 of the race. Then on a pitstop, Cindric left pitlane with the gas can still attached and was subsequently given a stop-and-go penalty dropping him back into the pack. Ryan Truex, of Mayetta, NJ, in the No. 16 Don Valley North Toyota/Weins Canada Toyota Tundra, took over the lead and won Stage 2. In Stage 3, Kaz Grala, of Boston Mass., in the No. 33 GMS Racing Chevrolet Silverado, and Parker Kligerman, of Westport, Conn., in the No. 75 Food Country USA Toyota Tundra, battled up front at the start of the stage with Grala taking the lead and building a 10-truck buffer with 14-laps to go in the race.

Cindric meanwhile, had charged back up from 16th into fourth. By the white flag lap, Cindric closed on Grala and through turn 5 dueled with the driver of the No. 33 machine to take the lead. Cindric took the checkered for his first career Camping World Truck Series Truck win and a place in the 2017 playoffs. Noah Gragson, of Las Vegas, Nev., in the No. 18 Switch Toyota Tundra, slid up to finish second ahead of Grala in third.

In the NASCAR Pinty’s Series Total Quartz 200, Kevin Lacroix of Saint-Eustache, Que. in the No. 74 Bumper to Bumper/Total/Gates/Go Fast Dodge started from pole but relinquished the lead early on to second-on-the-grid Anthony Simone, of Aurora, Ont. in the No. 95 Innovative Plumbing/Ink Your Ride Dodge. Simone held the top spot until lap 36 when Lacroix closed and passed for the lead. From there, Lacroix was never challenged to take the win. Simone would drop off allowing Andrew Ranger, of Roxton, Pond, Que. in the No. 27 Mopar/Pennzoil Dodge to finish second and Alex Tagliani, of Lachenaie, Que, to finish third in his No. 18 EpiPen/Lowes/St. Hubert/Fast Wheels Chevrolet.

With the checkered flag flying to close out the 2017 major event season, details on the 2018 schedule at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park will be announced later this year. Please visit canadiantiremotorsportpark.com for more details.
