@TMPracing • CAYUGA, ON – Saturday was a typical unpredictable Victoria Day weekend weather, with periods of spitting of raindrops, just enough to delay the racing. The teams waited patiently for the track to dry off and given the okay to proceed once again.

A six car field set the stage for the first of three events for the NDRA AFC Series presented by Xylotek Solutions. Bankes-Cox Racing, Atchison Racing, For Wheels Racing, Ant Hill Mob Drag Racing, Paul Zgoda Racing, and Kardiac Kids Racing was the line-up for the weekend.

Saturday basically saw the teams shaking the cobwebs and bugs out of their cars but eager to bump their competitor out of action. Three-time IHRA Funny Car champion  Rob Atchison of London, ON and his crew took the top spot in qualifying by the day’s end in his 2006 Monte Carlo setting the goal to beat 6.13 @ 206 mph.  NDRA’s 2014 Funny Car champion Tyler Scott, Exeter, ON squeezed in second with 6.17 @ 186 mph in Kardiac Kids Racing’s new 2010 Monte Carlo.

Sunday’s eliminations weather was outstanding to say the least! The tension was mounting as the teams lined up against each other. The first two contenders in round one, London, ON Rob Atchison takes out Aidan Heatley-Smith of Paris, ON with 5.95 @ 247. Next 2014 NDRA’s AFC Champion Tyler Scott of Exeter, ON wins against Buffalo, NY native Chris Zgoda with a 5.84 @ 245 mph. The final pair saw Ron Bankes of St. Thomas, ON becoming the winner over London, ON resident Dylan Hache.

As Ron Bankes of Bankes-Cox Racing had some unexpected mechanical issues leaving Sportz Truck Tents by Napier Tyler Scott for a bye run in round two in a lane of his choosing. Tyler made a pass of 5.89 @ 244 mph. Round two saw Atchison Machine Service sponsored Rob Atchison making a bye pass of 5.99 @ 197 mph.
