FRASERVILLE, ON- OSCAAR Super Late Model Tour point leader Andrew Gresel continued his win streak on Sunday, August 10th at Kawartha Speedway. The second-generation wheelman earned his 3rd straight tour victory – his 4th overall – to tighten his grip on the OSCAAR championship point standings.
“This was another awesome day at the office”, smiled a jubilant Gresel post-race. “Our car is on rails these days. I can’t thank my team enough. These guys are with me every step of the way, working long hours back in the shop to get this car to where we need it to be”
Gresel ran second for the first 40-laps of the race, closely pursuing 4-time tour champion Glenn Watson. A caution with 10-laps remaining bunched the field up, and allowed Gresel to slip past Watson to claim the lead and subsequent race victory.
“Racing with Glenn is always a lot of fun”, said Gresel. “He makes you work for it. You’ll never grab a spot from him without having to absolutely earn it. Glenn’s a gentleman. He’ll never rough you up, he’ll just run you hard. I looked up to Glenn before I ever bought a Super Late Model. I’d race side-by-side with him any day”
With wins in his last 3 starts, Gresel will enter the final 4 nights of competition with a commanding lead in the OSCAAR point standings.
“I hear what everyone is saying about the championship points, but our team is going to stick to the same game plan we’ve had all season”, explained Gresel. “We’re going to work and make our car as fast as possible, and try to win every race we enter. The points will figure themselves out in the end”
“We worked all off-season to put together a car that would compete with the very best”, continued Gresel. “It’s an awesome feeling to see it all come together, especially at the end of the season when everything seems to matter a little bit more”
Gresel and the Sauble Falls Racing Team will be back in action with the OSCAAR Super Late Model Tour on August 23rd at Sunset Speedway, for Round 9 of the 2014 schedule.
Andrew Gresel’s 2014 season would not be possible without the continued support of Sauble Falls Tent & Trailer Park, London Recreational, Canadian Union of Skilled Workers, HY-Grade Roofing, Have1.com and Raden Givari of eHomes.
