STROUD, ON (August 15, 2018)- The motorsports community has always had a soft spot for a first-time main event winner. Whether it comes in a drivers first season or after years of trying, that initial checkered flag in an unforgettable memory that no one can take away. Saturday, August 11th Andre Fiorini joined a special fraternity with a pair of Trailers Plus Ontario Legend Series victories at Sunset Speedway.
Even though he’s still only running a limited schedule, the 19-year-old former go-kart racer from Port Hope, Ontario had turned-in some impressive finishes during the 2018 schedule, including a ninth place effort Saturday, July 28th at Peterborough Speedway. Running well always gives a driver an extra-shot of confidence and Fiorini says he’s been pleased with his team’s performances this year.
“Going back to karting, racing was supposed to be fun and I’ve been lucky to maintain that same attitude with the Legends Series,” Fiorini said. “All the other teams and drivers have been a big help since I got started and they’re always ready to answer any questions I might have and help me find a quicker way around the track.”
Fiorini says his car was quick right off the trailer and after a few adjustments, it was rails. In the opening ‘A; main, he started on the pole and kept his focus throughout the race. In the night’s second feature, he had to deal with getting around Robin Jongen and Wes Cuthbertson – a couple of drivers with much more experience – to make it a clean sweep of the weekend.
“I owe a huge vote of thanks to Cory Hall and Cory Hall Racing for their help with set-up information and tips all through the season.”
