SASKATOON, SK – Saturday, July 28, was the third night of racing at Auto Clearing Motor Speedway in this jam packed week. Three local divisions, the Part Source Mini Stocks, Cooper Tire Thunder Stocks, Mike and Ike’s Sask Legends along with the Midwest Combustion WEST series making their third stop.
The first division to hit the track after qualifying was the Parts Source Mini Stocks. In the heat race #42 Landry Boisvert got the win holding off a hard charging #10 Kevin Dyck, #1 Scott Barrand finished third.
The qualifier race saw #14 Zachery Jalbert have another great run getting the win, once again #10 Kevin Dyck was coming on strong but finished second, #42 Landry Boisvert settled for third. The Parts Source Mini Stock 40 lap feature race saw plenty of action right from the beginning, taking a couple of attempts to get the first lap completed. Once the race was underway the action was fast and furious as the fast cars worked their way up to the front of the pack. Once #10 Kevin Dyck got to the front he was able to maintain a comfortable gap on second place. The #95 Clay Wagner and #14 Zachary had an entertaining battle for 30 laps swapping second several times with the #95 beating the #14 to the line. #10 Kevin Dyck adds another 50th anniversary flag to his collection.
The Cooper Tire Thunder Stock division was up next with their ruff and tumble action. The heat race showed the comradery of the class with #76 Logan Derksen loaning one of his cars to the #42 team of Kelsy and Nicole Sheetka after their hard wreck on the front straight last race. Unfortunately the dark cloud continued to follow Kelsey as with one lap remaining the differential piled up on the loaner car sending her into the outside wall. Once again her night ended on the hook and with a bent car, hopefully the team is able to pull it together and finish off the season. The #66 Brent Dupuis took the checkered flag followed by #81 Curtis Houben and #18 Mike Rea. The qualifier race saw three cars out due to mechanical failures that would end their nights. The race was won by #81 Curtis Houben, #18 Mike Rea took second and #66 Brent Dupuis finished in third. The Cooper Tire Thunder Stock 30 lap feature race saw #66 Brent Dupuis get the win followed by #18 Mike Rea and #7 Floyd Ransom made another podium appearance in third. #66 Brent Dupuis adds another 50th anniversary flag to his collection.
Next up the Mike and Ike’s Sask Legends division were out for their second stop of the season. They started off with the four car qualifying that they are famous for with #21 Blake Erb taking top spot with a time of 16.365. Heat A saw the #20 Darrell Buckingham take the checkers with #21 Balke Erb and #24 Brad Blumer hot on his tail. In heat B #90 Danny Meirer held off #4 Dennis Kuntsmann for the win #25 Jason Jessiman brought it home in third. Qualifier A saw #21 Blake Erb out front with #20 Darrell Buckingham close behind and once again #24 Brad Blumer finishing third. In Qualifier B #90 Danny Meirer again captured the top spot with #25 Jason Jessiman improving to second and #26 Ernie Ludwig sneaking into third. The Mike and Ike’s 50 lap feature race had plenty of battles for position and action happening all over the track. With less than five laps to go it looked as if #20 Darrell Buckingham was going to be able to hold on for the win when suddenly a part broke in his rear suspension sending him out of control and causing #21 Blake Erb to make contact with him and spin. Once the #20 was removed and the green returned #21 Blake Erb was able to hold off #24 Brad Blumer for the win, #90 Danny Meirer rounded out the top three. Blake gets his first 50th anniversary flag for the win.

The first heat race saw some action right out of the gate with the #49 Ben Busch and #21 Nick Allen making contact. Ben’s car took the worst of the mix-up, the crew went to work and managed to get him back on track for the next race although it didn’t look very pretty. #04 Tim Kammer’s took the win it was a great rebound from the blown motor in the previous event. #12 Matthew Shirley had his best run to date finishing second followed closely by #48 Nick Jewel in third. The qualifier had plenty of action but less carnage, #48 Nick Jewel claimed the win #12 Matthew Shirley had yet another second place run and #04 Tim Kammer rounded out the top three.
