Yokohama announces new North American Porsche Race Series partnership with USAC

(TORONTO, ON – July 17, 2012) The 2013 Scion tC stands out with performance, style and an eye-arresting new colour for the tC Release Series 8.0.

“Canadians looking for an expressive sport coupe know that every Scion tC can be customized from an impressive range of official Scion parts and accessories,” said Larry Hutchinson, Senior Executive Director,  – but those looking to make a unique statement on the road or track will want to check out the Scion tC Release Series 8.0, featuring exclusive exterior design accents, interior finishes, and more,” said Larry Hutchinson, Senior Executive Director, Toyota Canada Inc.
The Scion tC Release series 8.0 is immediately recognizable with its Absolutely Red paint and full skirt package, plus rear spoiler and centrally-located exhaust. The look is completed with 18″ aluminum alloy wheels featuring a black gloss finish. Inside, colour-tuned seat fabric sports an accent stitch and each Release series 8.0 model is fitted with a unique, numbered badge. Those ordered with an automatic transmission also receive steering wheel-mounted paddle shifters.
All Scion tC models deliver high-style, driving fun and room for driver plus up to four friends. 60/40 split folding rear seats maximize versatility by making more room for gear, and every Scion tC is factory-equipped with a full range of performance, style, convenience and safety features.
The tC powers through the urban landscape thanks to a 180 horsepower, 2.5L four-cylinder engine matched to a choice of transmission – a six-speed manual (7.9L/100km city/highway combined) or six-speed automatic with gate type shifter (7.7L/100km city/highway combined).
Sporty acceleration, finely-tuned suspension systems featuring stabilizer bars, front wheel drive and highly responsive electric rack & pinion power steering combine to deliver driving fun and confidence, while large disc brakes and the six active technologies of the Scion Star Safety System maximize control.
Additional safety systems include active front headrests with whiplash protection, all-position three-point lap and shoulder belts, and a suite of eight airbags, including dual-stage airbags plus knee airbags for front seat occupants.
The tC’s style is distinctly Scion:
Outside, bold body lines contrast with a panoramic glass roof, while the tC’s street-smart presence is emphasized with colour-keyed bumpers, mirrors and handles – plus 18″ aluminum alloy wheels fitted with locks and wrapped with P225/45R18 all season tires.
Inside, the tC is versatile, spacious – with seating for five – and driver-focused. Front seats feature robust bolsters to keep driver and navigator firmly planted during hard cornering, and the cabin is trimmed out with premium cloth seat coverings. The thick, three-spoke steering wheel is flat bottomed and leather-clad for excellent grip and a racing feel. Precision milled cylindrical meters house a tachometer, trip odometer, and the Scion Drive Monitor (plus ECO Indicator on automatic transmission models).
And, as a Scion, the tC is loaded with standard features and gear – including air conditioning with soft-touch controls, power door locks with keyless entry, power windows with driver’s side auto-down function, dual vanity mirrors, plenty of in-cabin storage, map lamps, all weather floor mats, a 12 volt accessory power outlet, power moon roof, intermittent wipers and a rear window wiper/washer, and more. An eight-speaker audio system – satellite ready and upgraded for 2013 with integrated Bluetooth – includes AM/FM stereo/CD with mp3/WMA, plus audio auxiliary input and USB jacks and steering wheel-mounted multifunction audio controls.
Like every Scion, the 2013 tC may be customized using a full range of dealer-installed features and accessories – from performance and handling upgrades to style enhancements, to premium audio systems.
The 2013 Scion tC goes on sale this summer at Canadian Scion dealerships.  The 2013 tC starts at a manufacturer’s suggested retail price of $20,940 and the Scion tC Release series 8.0 starts at a manufacturer’s suggested retail price of $24,420.
