@GPdePau • @KamiLaliberte •Zeewolde, The Netherlands, May 11, 2016 – Young Montréal-born driver Kami Laliberté will relive some moments of his first European open-wheel racing season this weekend, as he will rejoin the French Formula 4 championship where he spent most of the 2015 racing season. On this occasion, he will rediscover the very demanding street circuit where the renowned Grand Prix de Pau is disputed. The Canadian driver, a starter this season with the Dutch Van Amersfoort Racing (VAR) team in the German F4 championship, will then add some precious experience on track and remain in racing shape by attending the legendary racing festival ran for 75 years in the streets of the former Bearn Capital City, at the base of the Pyrenees Mountains.

‘’In our German series, there are no street circuits. All major open-wheel championships do have at least one of this kind of course on schedule, and it is really a good idea to learn how to deal early with the conditions it offers. At Pau, it is very hilly, quite narrow with some very fast corners. It is quite a challenge, the kind of place where you must have guts’’, said the young driver who had his first encounter with the 2.76 kilometre (15 corners) track in 2015. Last year, three races were on the program, a fourth one has been added for this Anniversary edition.

For this rendezvous in the streets of Pau – where European Formula 3 is seen as the highlight of the program -, Kami will be driving one of the cars prepared by the French Formula 4 championship and distributed randomly through a draw on Thursday, May 12. The single-seaters are Signatech chassis powered by Renault 1,6 L engines. Following the morning free session, qualifying will take place in the afternoon, Friday, May 13. The Formula 4 drivers will dispute two races on Saturday May 14, and two others on Sunday, May 15, in the morning and the afternoon on both days.

Last year at the Grand Prix de Paul, Laliberté retired from one race and finished 9th on two occasions. ‘’ Pau also represents a good opportunity to measure my progress and figure where I stand a year later. I am confident that with the experience acquired over the months, I can have some good results, even if I won’t be aboard that very good German championship’s car prepared for me by our team’’, concluded the young hope.

That German Formula 4 championship will resume on June’s first weekend when Kami, his team mates and other rivals will return to another modern German course, the Lausitzring. After Pau and during the pause, the 16 years old young man will mainly devote his energy to the completion of his school year. At any moment, it is possible to learn more about Van Amersfoort Racing at www.vanamersfoortracing.nl and about Kami Laliberté at www.kamilaliberte.com. The Grand Prix de Pau has its own website: www.grandprixdepau.fr
