INNISFIL, ON- Two weeks removed from a tumultuous season opener that saw Thayne Hallyburton and team grapple with an ill-handling racecar, ‘The Hillsdale Hurricane’ returned to action on May 17th with a strong top-10 finish.
“This is exactly what this program needs”, says Hallyburton. “We have a brand new chassis, and Sunset is by and large a brand new speedway for us. We were prepared for the learning curve. Every member of this team is dedicated to improvement”
A strong qualifying effort put Hallyburton in the 14 car invert, with the Port City by Baker chassis rolling off from outside Row 5.
“I love the way Sunset has changed up their qualifying procedure”, notes Hallyburton. “We were good all day, and were thrilled to make the invert”
Hallyburton ran within the top-10 for the entirety of the night, showing marketable improvement from his opening night struggles.
“Travis [Hallyburton] and I had a testing session here on Friday that really paid dividends tonight”, explains Hallyburton. “It’s all about repetition. Hitting the same marks over and over again. Once I build up that muscle memory, we can put all of our focus into improving the car itself”
‘The Hillsdale Hurricane’ was quick to credit the work of his crew in having the Hillsdale Service Centre-backed entry ready for action.
“I can’t say enough about our team. These guys have been in the shop with this car every single night since it last hit the track. That level of dedication is tough to beat. I’m happy that I can give them a solid performance, because the effort they put in at the shop deserves nothing less than a strong effort from me on the track”
Thayne Hallyburton enjoys marketing support from Hillsdale Service Centre and Thompson Enterprises. Additional packages are still available.
‘The Hillsdale Hurricane’ will return to action this Saturday, May 24th at Sunset Speedway for a 50-lap Super Series event.
