BOWMANVILLE, Ont. – (June 15, 2018) The green flag flew on Friday to open the VARAC (Vintage Automobile Racing Association of Canada) Vintage Grand Prix weekend at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park. Running through Father’s Day June 17 the event features beautifully restored cars from the past 50-plus years of motorsports, racing on CTMP’s legendary Grand Prix circuit.
A highlight of Friday’s on-track action was the two Formula 5000 Revival Series practice sessions – Charles Parsons of West Dundee, IL set the fastest time in the series’ second practice of the day behind the wheel of the No. 1 1976 Lola T332C formerly driven by the weekend’s Grand Marshal, British racing legend Brian Redman. Redman won the F5000 Championship in 1976 in that same driver’s seat.
Saturday’s full slate of racing action will once again see beautifully-restored open wheel formula cars, GT muscle cars, MGs and Triumphs take to the circuit. Highlights include a Formula 5000 qualifying session and race. As well, Redman will take part in a special meet-and-greet starting at noon – fans will receive an autographed event poster.
Single Day and Weekend Tickets are available for purchase at the gate. Children 16 and under free when accompanied by a paying adult. For more information, please visit canadiantiremotorsportpark.com, call 1-800-866-1072, or email info@ctmpark.com
