Milverton, ON, Wednesday July 11, 2018: One of the most anticipated races of the 2018 season will take place this weekend on the streets of Toronto at the Honda Indy. The Pinty’s Grand Prix is a premiere event for the NASCAR Pinty’s Series and one all drivers and teams look forward to each year.

Alex Tagliani driver of the #18 EpiPen/Rona/St Huberts Camaro ZL1 has two previous starts in the Pinty’s Grand Prix. Both resulted in front row starting spots and a win in 2016. Tagliani would like nothing better than to repeat that this year.

“Excited to get back to the Toronto Indy this weekend,” said Tagliani. “The Pinty’s Grand Prix is a great event and it is a fun track. The 22 Racing team is doing good overall this year. The 18 team has had a little bad luck, but we are not too far back in the championship points. This weekend is very important as it is the beginning of our Allergy Friendly Kitchen with Pfizer and Rona has a remote-control track in the paddock for the fans. Lots of prizes and fans will be able to win a set of Fast Wheels, Continental Tires as well as shirts and hats from the team. It is a big weekend for our sponsors and we can’t wait to get back on track on the streets of Toronto.”

Marc-Antoine Camirand and his #22 GM Paille Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 is looking for some redemption when he returns to the streets of Toronto this weekend for his second visit to the historic site. After running in second place for a good part of the event in 2017, a late race attempt to pass for the lead saw him end up in the tire wall.

“I am really happy to be back in Toronto this weekend,” said Camirand. “I love to race there but there is no place for mistakes. I look forward to having a strong result this year.”

Donald Theetge who pilots the #24 Mercedes-Benz St. Nicolas/Circuit Acura Camaro is making his third appearance at the Toronto Indy, however this is his first in the NASCAR Pintys Series. His previous starts fell under the umbrella of the CASCAR Super Series and his best result was a fourth place in 2003.

“We need to get good points to prepare for the Western races,” said Theetge. “The last time I raced on the streets of Toronto was in 2003 and we finished fourth. With all the great road racers in our series now if we can finish in the top eight then we will be very satisfied. We are very positive since Autodrome Chaudiere, so we want to stay in that mode.”

The Pinty’s Grand Prix will take place over two days with practice and qualifying taking place on Friday July 13th. The teams will take to the track at 11:40 a.m. for practice and 4:05 for qualifying. Saturday will start with an autograph session at 12 noon followed by the Pinty’s Grand Prix at 3:40 p.m.
