Milverton, ON, (Wednesday May 15, 2019): The NASCAR Pinty’s Series takes to the track for the first event of 2019 this weekend at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park. The Clarington 200 will run on Sunday May 19th with practice and qualifying taking place on Saturday.

22 Racing is again pleased to field three teams this season including 2018 championship points runner- up Alex Tagliani in the #18 EpiPen/Rona entry. Tagliani hopes to be back on the top step of the podium this weekend at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park after winning the fall race event here in 2018. After winning two of the seasons premiere events including the Silverado 250 race weekend event here at Canadian tire Motorsport Park and at the Grand Prix de Trois Rivieres and finishing second overall, he is excited for the new season to get underway.

Marc-Antoine Camirand driving the #22 GM Paille Chevrolet enters the season looking for more wins after getting his first taste of victory in the series last year at Autodrome St. Eustache. Camirand is known as a road course racer and he is always a threat to win at any of these tracks. He is looking to move up a position here at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park as he finished second in this event last year. His goal is to challenge for more wins and the championship after finishing sixth overall in 2018.

Donald Theetge will again drive the #24 Mercedes Benz St. Nicolas/Circuit Acura entry and while not known as a road course racer had finishes of 13th and 10th here in 2018. Theetges goal is to continue to improve on the road courses and work towards placing in the top six to gain valuable points towards the season ending championship. He is expected to be a challenger for wins at ever oval track we visit and for the season ending championship.

The weekend kicks off with practice at 11:55 a.m. on Saturday followed by qualifying beginning at 5:15 p.m. Sunday starts with an autograph session at 11:15 a.m. and the green flag flies for the start of the Clarington 200 at 1:30 p.m. For more event information please visit www.canadiantiremotorsportpark.com

The NASCAR Pinty’s Series is made up of thirteen events taking place from Nova Scotia to Alberta with one event in the U.S. at New Hampshire Motor Speedway. The series races on oval tracks, road and street courses. For more information please visit www.22racing.ca/schedule or visit www.nascarpintysseries.com
