Even though Mother Nature played a role in the outcome of the 2021 running of the Northeast Fall Nationals, the promotional team at Brockville Ontario Speedway lives by the adage ‘The Show Must Go On’.
“Try as we might, the weather just wasn’t on our side last fall,” explained track owner and promoter Paul Kirkland. “As soon as we made the decision to postpone the second day of racing, we started thinking about finding a new date. To be fair to the other tracks in the region, the holiday Monday of the Victoria Day Weekend was the best option. It’s a win-win situation for our fans too. We’ll still be running a regular show for our weekly divisions Saturday, May 21st and the Fall Nationals make-up event Monday, May 23rd.”
Kirkland says that as of now, the reboot will follow the same format as the original schedule with a 100 lap main event for the DIRTcar 358 Modifieds that hands over a winner’s cheque worth $10,000. Also on the show will be 50 lap headliner for the Sportsman Mods, Crate Sprints, Street Stocks and Vintage Modifieds.
“When we were finally forced to make the call to pull the plug in October, we let people know they should hang onto their tickets or wristbands and we’ll be honouring them for the May 23rd date,” advised Paul Kirkland. “Anyone who wasn’t part of the original show will be able to purchase tickets at the gate.”
